Hey gang-
It is very likely that I am coming in late with this but thought I'd bring the topic up again and show how a guy (me) is pushing to remove all the chrome from his mid-luxury SUV (08 FX35) and how he (me) went about doing the door handle portion for very little cash! Not the best pics but still some show & tell for ya!
1. Simply bought these on ebay:

You could get cheaper ones and even cheaperer ones or pricier ones but something tells me they are all the same. Your call. You can get them with intelligent key holes or no intelligent key holes. A perfect fit on our door handles all the way around! Despite the ad shown, I got mine from upgradeyourauto.com (nice folks)...
2. Sanded all the faux chrome off, primed, painted and clear coated them myself (rattle can with a dead match of PG from Pep Boys = Dupli-Color "Perfect Match Paint BGM0347 Medium Gray Metallic):

Before:

3. 3M taped (already installed in handles) them right over my chrome ones:

I-key button is a touch indented but still looks nice I think.
PhotoShop comparo (below) to show the difference it makes. A touch cleaner I feel.

Boom. There you have it. My rear badge is now the only chrome anything left on my FX and its days are numbered too. Not everyone's look, I know, but I'm liking it!
Out the door this "mod" was about $75 bucks. I think I'll get another set because I want to use a "blank" piece to cover my driver's door key hole too! Clean it all up - I can pop it off should I ever need the key in a pinch!
Thanks for watching!
