Vinyl wrap or Paint the Roof?

Please say you're kidding?

And as Dracula says, the roof is going to be the worst place to wrap. Not that wrapping isn't a good idea, but it won't last as long as other panels. When vinyl makers rate life on their vinyl, they do it based on vertical angle. The more vertical the angle, the longer it will last because it takes less direct sunlight and other elements. So if a maker says up to 3-5 year outdoor life, the roof will be 3 years and a door might be 5 years.

plastidip..

If you park your car outside, I say paint your roof. Even the high quality vinyl wont last more than 3 years in NY weather environment(if the car is parked outside all the time). I did the roof myself and it was the most time consuming part to wrap, but definitely doable. High quality vinyl WON'T damage your paint(factory/OEM coating) when you decide to remove later. It will do the damage to the parts that were poorly repaired/painted before.

If you want gloss black, just wrap it. If you want flat black, just plastidip it.

Just got gloss black done on my Evo X:

Like Dracula said if you decide to go vinyl make sure you get the top quality one, otherwise it will not only be a pain to remove but will age a lot faster.
I carry my surfboards and bikes on my roof that's why I went vinyl it's more forgiving when you accidentally drop something on it. Also even if you park outside with a proper vinyl Protestants and sealers it will look good.

Every car in my family has smoked taillights and black roof. All automotive paint. With vinyl you have to worry about the sunroof pushing and lifting the vinyl over time of repeated opening and closing. The roof takes a lot of heat compared to the rest of the car and will cause the vinyl to shrink around the edges and fade.
If you want flat black though just PlastiDip it... looks good, cheap, stay on as long as you want it, and easy to take off when you don't want it.

I'd say go vinyl. In case you don't like the look or want to change it up or remove it later on. Plus vinyl is more forgiving when it comes to scratches and such.

i agreed, plus you can do that yourself, it should be pretty easy since its flat all the way

I think you should go with vinyl bro just like aero said once the black roof craze is out u can always remove it and vinyl is gonna last two years minimum and after those two years, if it looks faded or w.e u can remove it or redo it. Paint is permanent

My roof is wrapped with 3M and has scratch shield on it. 2 years later still holding up good. I wax it from time to time for extra shine and protection.
