Rear pillar speaker issues after aftermarket amp install

Hey all!

So I had my Bose amp replaced with a Alpine MRX-V60 4 channel amp due to water damage. I had the install done at a local shop, but after coming home to listen to all the speaker, i noticed the rear pillar speakers were not working. Is this is a common problem after installing a aftermarket amp?

I did have a monoblock Alpine MRX-M55 previously installed for the subwoofer. Would it help to have a separate amp for the sub and another one for the speakers?

I'm heading back Saturday to fix the problem, and just needed some insight on what to do. I just want to enjoy my music already :crying:

Thanks!

2005 FX 35 w/tech package.

So you took out the mono amp and now have a 4 channel amp powering everything? If that's the case you don't have enough channels. If the shop took out the mono amp, they bridged 2 channels to run the sub leaving only 2 channels for the speakers. There are 4 pairs of speakers...

And how can you even notice the lack of rear speakers while driving? The pillar speakers are just for fill. Unless you're missing more than just those.

How is your 4 channel amp hooked up to your rear pillar speakers? I ask because I was under the impression the Bose amp has a separate 'channel' for the rear pillar speakers (6 channels total).
- 1 ch for front left door & dash speaker
- 1 ch for center
- 1 ch for front right door & dash
- 1 ch for rear left door
- 1 ch for rear right door
- 1 ch for both rear pillar speakers

If you go with a 4 channel amp, the center channel and rear pillar speakers wouldn't be connected unless you split the channels? I might be wrong, but I wonder if that's why the rear pillars are not active?

The tech gave me the option to either have both amps, or run everything through the 4 channel. Going with one amp seemed like the better option to me, in terms of keeping things clean and hidden. I'm clueless when it comes to car audio, so I figured the tech knew what he was doing, and would be able to run all the speakers with one amp. Going without the rear pillars would be fine, but it's just more of a personal preference knowing I have a full surround effect.

I wanted the rear pillar speakers to work more for a convinience to the passangers in the back, although with different music I'm able to hear the rear pillar speakers. Also, while watching movies at the drive-in the rears come in handy :bashful:

I'm not too sure since I just left it to the technicians to complete everything, as long as they fixed my speaker issue. When I go back on Saturday I'll update you on what their solution is.

Thanks again everyone for the input!

Leave it as is. Central front speaker and rear pillar speakers just degrade the sound IMO

I might just end up leaving it as is from what everyones advice is. I am hearing a faint buzzing noise from the front tweeters though. I'm hoping they can figure out that issue...my biggest nightmare is finding out my headunit is going out on me too :(

My setup also disabled the front center and rear pillar speakers. Recently, I hear a faint high pitch squeal from the rear tweeters in my setup. Anyone know if there a remedy?
