Whining noise all the time inside the cabin

Hey, I'm new to the forum and have an 09 FX50S and have read some people complaining about A/C compressors that make a whining noise, but I'm having the problem with or without the A/C on and its driving me crazy. The best way to describe it is a high pitch frequency, sort of like a dog whistle, but not as loud. I noticed the noise intensifies as you barely press on the gas pedal when you coast on the highway or upon slow acceleration. I took my truck to the dealer, they replaced the factory radio - the replacement didn't fix it, now waiting because they are replacing the computer in the car and am hoping that will help. Has anyone else experienced this noise?

I heard the VVEL technology can be noisy in these motors which might be the issues. But that would be normal then so I don't know....

^ lmaooo... Seriously tho.. Could it be static from the speakers? Like feedback from speaker wire touching an electrical wire?

Did you recently get married?

You kill me Pork....lol

You have a ground problem usually related to your stereo. It's usually called alternator whine. Thats why Infiniti replaced your hu. They are tracking down the problem as it usually starts at a bad battery ground, then hu ground, or most of the time bad amp grounds. Something in your grounds is picking up the interference from the alt causing this issue. It can also be a bad voltage regulator or alternator. Alt whine is very tricky and takes a lot of time to track down.

Alt whine drives me nuts... I have a slight Alt whine in my other car....but the system is loud enough to cover it with ease. Ive been too busy to track it down. This should not happen AT ALL to a stock car.

bingo... i kinda called it loll... i know and have heard of this before.. forgot that the alternator was the culprit of the whine but alot more intricate than thought

Does this happen if you turn the radio off? If not it's a ground somewhere that may not be related to the stereo

Maybe this is your problem that was experienced during insideline's long term road test on the FX:

Anyone had luck getting this diagnosed? Same problem high frequency noise, can get it to modulate up and down when pushing the accelerator. Noise is there with radio on/off and a/c on/off. Been turning the stereo up but it's a pain trying to listen to talk radio that's when you really notice it. Going to talk to dealer we'll see what they say.

^bump^ 3Ric, Anyone had luck getting this fixed or diagnosed? I'm taking mine in soon and wanted to be able to point them to the ECU, fuel pump, Bose system etc.

Hi, quick introduction as it's my first post. Name's Mark, live in Switzerland and traded in a problematic G37 vert for a new FX50S last Friday. Signed up as soon as I saw this post after googling for this exact problem! Dealer got a hugely annoyed phone call today as this high pitched ringing noise is driving me crazy and actually giving me a headache after being in the car for more than about 1/2 hour. They're taking it back tomorrow as Infiniti Europe have told them they need to reprogram something or other. All I know so far is that I need to take both my keys with me. We'll see......

What I have noticed though is that if I stick my head in the passenger foot well, the sound seems to be coming from the side wall a bit further forward from the door speaker. Anyone know what's behind this bit of plastic??

I'll post any updates I get on this because I'm not letting up until they fix it!

Cheers!

Mark

That sucks hope you get it resolved.

If this is related to the FX50 only I bet it has something to do with the VVEL. The G37 had this same issue in 2008.

SwissFX - let us know what they find and if any specific remedy fixes the issue. My service writer said he couldn't hear the noise, will keep trying.

check your wheel bearing ?
Mine made that sound very high pitched driving around ( sounds like an airplane taking off)

my wheel bearings were completely gone when my mechanic took a look at it.
Might be or might not be the same sound I was having though

Are you saying the noise intensifies as you increase the radio volume? If so, thats probably why the dealer replaced the radio?
Just for the record, my 09 50S doesnt make any hi frequency noise.

On mine it's a high pitched electronic noise like "eee" "eee" when you hit the gas pedal you hear it and when you let up on the gas pedal it stops. It occurs with the radio on or off and the a/c on or off. It's one of those that will be a devil to track down but would like to know if I can point them to a fix. In practice I only notice notice it when listening to talk radio since there isn't as much noise like music to cover it up.

Did you even bother looking at the link I provided you? Again a tester on edmunds had an FX50 for a long term road test and said some wire wasnt insulated causing some whining noise when accelerating.
