GTSPEC front strut bar w/engine cover help

I've always received mixed answers on whether or not the oem engine cover would still fit with the GTSPEC front strut bar. I really would love to keep the cover on for the OEM look. Has anyone had experience with this?

It fits, one member in new york with a 50 had one and said it fits fine. I forget his username.

So I brought the strut bar to the mechanic and he was a little worried about installing it. All the install pics I've seen, it looks pretty clear cut. But after looking at my anchor points, it doesn't seem to have a lot of room to work with.

I saw the write up for an FX35 but is there anything out for the FX50? My understanding is that the strut bar cannot fit over top the manifold cover but will fit underneath it.

He also mentioned he was afraid there wasn't going to be enough thread left on the stud. I'm guessing we're removing the triangular anchor piece rather than placing the GTSPEC points on top of it?

Also, are there screws on the manifold cover?

I'm just gathering information to go back tomorrow to get this done. It seemed to be a quick 20 minute job but he's telling me it's a pain in the rear to do.

Update: it fits just fine I just installed it today.

The install was a PITA but I will post a DIY - took me 2 hours. Stay tuned.

2 hours? seesh....Handy Andy, what did it take us to put it on my car? maybe 15 minutes max?

It took me not even 15 minutes, 2 hours is just ridiculous.

It took my mechanic close to an hour. I was watching him doing it and the biggest problem was the small amount of space you work with.

well that is with us taking all the pictures and eating some dim sum in between.....may had taken like 8 minutes.
I could never do it that fast, it took me that long just to gather the tools required.

it took me 15 minutes just to figure out why the hell the passenger side one wasn't going in - discovered those bolts in the way.

Im sure it would be quicker if you had worked under there before but it was the first time I had even taken my engine cover off. Also it helps to have small nimble hands and the ability to squeeze into smaller spaces to get at those certain angle you need to be at -- I'm a big dude, it was a pain in the ass.

I also had only fairly basic tools - It would take much less time with a proper tool set to be able to reach the bolts correctly, etc.

2hours was doing it outside my dorm while talking to people, a few phonecalls (My mother called to check up on me when the Boston bombing happened) And dropping a bolt into the abyss. If I were at home in my garage it would have most likely been maybe 45 min.

I'm no handy andy nor am I a mechanic ;) Haven't touched a tool since August.

You know Jonas was joking around, right? We spent like 4 hours or so. But then Jonas is a perfectionist.

I can say with 100% confidence handy andy would not been able to do the strut bar without my help. :)

Last big handy andy meet I was the chef.

My bad. Was in class so was in lawyer mode. Glad I'm not actually that incompetent
