No, it just shoot a beam onto a preset spot on your dash so you know the bumper is clear. Just park the car how you like it and then aim the laser beam at a specific spot on the dash to set it.

Anyhow, with this thing, my wife still manage to scratch the Sienna's bumper :at-wits-end:
 
Woah thanks for the suggestion guys, the tennis ball is classic, but the beam is a little more high tech. I moved the ladder which was causing me not to pull up front more, and I lowered the sensitivity on the sensors so it'll beep when I'm really close, otherwise it won't.. Hopefully that'll help it some.

Any ideas on how to get the scratches out of the bumper plastic to not look so bad? I'm thinking about either painting or plasti-dipping it matte black.. just get rid of the gray trim on the side and back, or I'll plasti-dip or paint a portion of it to kind of "fade into" the bumper. Like the top part before the curve of the exhausts.. its really specific, but it could look nice.

when you guys get a 2nd gen FX, you won't need any crazy beam gadgets or tennis balls. :)))))
 
Hahaha, our Sienna do comes with sonnar, but we found it annoying we turn it off. :dont-know:
 
I'm not even talking about the sonar- talking about the birds eye view. I pull up into the garage looking only at the nav screen and know exactly how close I am on each side front and rear.

Just to keep a track of what I've gotten done so far to the FX from the dealership:

-> ECM Update for the harsh downshift from 4th to 3rd gear.
-> Fixed loose side mirrors "as a courtesy"
-> Fixed the seat heater going off by itself
-> "Fixed" the AC compressor noise problem --- problem still persists.
