Painted lower trims

wassup yall thanks for lookin at post. i want to paint my lower trims got any advice a shops going to do it but not gonna warranty it if anyone did it i want to know how it turned out. Under every door if you look at ur fx theirs a rubber edge like a blade like you can move back and forth with your finger did you paint that or removed it and what happens if you remove itand any techniques the shop suggested. My car is pearl white, thanks.
 
I don't think so, unless you want water and dirt getting inside the door jambs

Zebra55 what did you do with your triims?
 
My lower trim is wrapped, chrome accents wrapped also, all weather seals are in place and untouched.

Does the vinyl stick to the lowers pretty well? My newer FX has painted lowers and it looks great...from a distance. Up close its started to bubble and crack in a couple places. :(

My lowers were painted before the wrap, so you definitely can try to wrap them in 3m 1080p gloss black vinyl. It won't stick well to unpainted FX trim though.

My lowers were painted pretty bad(color didn't match, I got what I paid for~$600). It cost around 2k to paint the lowers right at a good body shop(to much prep work involved).

I don't think it's too much, there's a lot of prep work on a first gen. I asked a friend who has painted several of my previous cars and he told me $1K and that's his cost to get it done right. It would be closer to $2K if I was just some random guy walking in. I think turbo even said $1800-$2K to do it right. It can be done cheaply, but it won't be done well. Sort of like telling someone who paid $5K for a custom paint job that it's too much and Maaco does it for $399.
