I've been searching and searching for wheels to replace my stock 18's on my FX
I really wanted to stay under $1K for set of 4 and found 2 type that I liked. Wanted to go Gunmetal or Dark Grey since my FX is black. I am stuck between the 2 wheels and can't decide now
I am also not sure what offset and width to get. Please feel free to comment or chime in. I've include some pictures from other cars also that are black so it helps visually.
I was leaning toward the RT-7M's but not sure how glossy black would look with Black FX. I've see these on white 2nd gen FX and they look nice. I wanted to keep a classic yet sporty look.
I almost feel the Glossy Black may gave to much aggressive look.

What is the best offset and width to go with ?

Just for reference, I am guessing we would get them close to the Sports ?
FX45 Sport with 20's OEM Sport Wheel Specs
20x8
5x114.3
ET +40

Available sizes:
RT7M2060035 20x8.5 15 5-114.3 Black Machined $340
RT7M2060023 20x8.5 38 5-114.3 Black Machined $340
RT7M2060036 20x10 15 5-114.3 Black Machined $350

can we go 10 wide ? any benefits ?

I like the Falken RT-7M in Glossy Black 20's.
Going 10" or more allows you to get a nice wider and fatter tire that looks nice. :good:

I guess I could also go 22" its $200 more. My concern was ride quality. My FX ride is already bouncy with stupid roads here. I am starting to think its the crappy fat tires on my 18's. Hope that the move to 20's increase handling and ride quality all at the same time. What do you guys think about the 22's? How is ride quality and handling vs 20's

If you ask us about 22"s, you're going to have a problem, LOL. Everyone here will tell you to go 22"s and for only $200 more, it's a good choice. 22"s on the FX are perfect. The ride quality isn't as bad or that much worse than you think it can be.

Your ride bounces may due to worn struts and shocks. When were they replaced? No noticeable ride quality issues for me on 22s. Big improvement on handling. I do feel the steering is a bit heavier due to wider tire in the front. I was on 22x10.5 with 285R40.

To answer your wheel offset choices, here are my setup for your reference:
1) 22x10.5 ET40 with 25mm wheel spacer.
2) 24x10 ET45 with 25mm wheel spacer

Both of mine gives me a flush look all around with the rear poke out maybe 5mm. No poke on the 24 setup though. It's really all depend on the tire side profile as well.

Given the choices you have with the RT7M, 20x10 ET15 will poke about 6mm. So my calculation tells me 20x8.5 ET15 + a 10mm or 15mm wheel spacers will give to a very good looking stance. I would seriously recommend that you should consider going with 22".

Thanks guys, looks like the 22's are only available in one size:

RT7M2260037
22x8.5
35
5-114.3
Black Machined
$420

Would be about an extra $400 with tires (22 inch tires cost more, who would have thunk it, less tire since wheels are bigger = more $)

22" has my vote! Which part of the wheel will be machine finish? All the pic you posted are solid color.

Go 22's...

...but you'll want to lower it after that

Not really looking to lower the car, you think that if I go 22's I will have to lower it ? Should I stick with the 20's if I don't want to lower? Just so hard to get a visual of 20 vs 22 of these wheels. I think all the pics I posted are 20's
ou guys see any issues with the width if I go 22x8.5

No, going with 22" does not have to be lowered. Lowering it complete the look and improve the handling more due to lower the center of mass. You should go with 22"

No issue with 22x8.5. Just a bit narrow/skinier tires that most of us would preferred. There enough tires in 265/40R22 on market, so you should be good there.

U gotta go wider then 8.5, if they don't offer it in that wheel consider other wheels. There are SO many out there!!

My g sedan has 8.5 all around and a 265/40 tire in the back. You have a big SUV/cuv not a little sedan like me.
