Removing pinstripes (sticker) ??

Hey guys,

I am still a newbie here. I searched high and low about removing the sticker type pinstripes that come from Infiniti. I seem to come up with painted-on

threads only. I tried peeling off a small segment and it seems to leave a mark (glue residue). I am guessing wax would remove whats left.

My question is... Can I just peel the whole thing off and polish the residue? or I would damage my clear coat in the process? I just bought the car and I

don't want to do anything stupid.

Thanks.

If it's just a sticker/decal, it can be peeled off. However, it may leave a 'shadow' depending on the UV exposure it has been subjected to. If you are unsure, you can take it to a profesional detailer and they can advise you better.

No need to go to a shop. Go buy a 3M eraser wheel and attach it to a cordless drill and erase the pinstripes away! This thing is amazing to use, I have used it before to get the 3M double sided tape off the body panels. This eraser wheel can save you hours of work in just minutes.

Also wd-40 works great on any kind of tar, grease or sticky stuff. Another thing if you get grease on your pants, spray it with wd and let it sit an hour or so, throw it in the washer and comes out like it was never there. But for your pin striping, the 3m wheel will make short work of your project.

Been there, done that. The wheel is all you need. One time I spent two hours getting about two inches of door adhesive off using goo-gone. My fingerprints were worn away and my hands were sore. With the 3M wheel, I did all four doors in 12 minutes.

I thought this was for painted on stripes. I guess this is the way to go. So all I need is a drill and this 3m wheel?? is there a special technique to tackle this task? Thanks everyone for the help

Goo Gone !! I've used to take off the trims or side moldings held on by the 3M tape ......... works like a charm with no effect on the paint ! Good Luck !

It took me a little longer using the eraser wheel but this is the way to go. You might need a polish afterwards. Here is the post where I actually used the wheel and took pictures.

I pulled mine off and rubbed off the glue residue with a clean rag and now there is no trace of it. Make sure there is not clear coat over the top though ;)
