Seat Finish Peeling Off

I would think the side of the seat is more susceptible to the type wear like in your pics because regardless if you think you are or are not, you a rubbing against that every time you enter and exit the car. All you are doing on the seat cushion is sitting down on it. The side is also raised up leading to you hitting it harder.

Good for you if they replace it, but that seems like some good ol' wear and tear on a car that is now over 3 years old.

and, you should see the side vinyl piece on my driver seat. You would have an aneurism if something like this is bothering you. This is a known issue and should absolutely be taken care of by Infiniti - like the dash was.

MBTex was vinyl and lasts forever. They quit using them sometime in the mid-90's or so. I grew up around Mercedes all my life and I remember MBTex in the 80's was so durable. :good:

I have a habit though of getting fidgety while driving and I move around in the seat cushion and still not any sign of wear although I agree it's possible. Regardless of being 3 years old I still find it unacceptable otherwise I wouldn't bring it up to them.
Oh well doesnt hurt to try. ;)

I want to bring up something I noticed. Look at where the arrows I made point to where the stiching in between where the line is joins the cushion together. Then look above the area where it's stiched together. I noticed where all the stiching seams are thats where the leather has ripped off. I think this may have something to cause the leather to prematurely wear off. Where ever there is stitching that brings the cushion together the leather has frayed in a perfect straight line in that area:

Looks like it is caused by stress on the stitching, pulling the two pieces of leather the stitching is holding together apart.

When I get a chance to check it out I will. Not near my car at the moment. But the dealer will be looking at it in the morning. Thanks for these suggestions bro and appreciate it. Like you said I hope it gets replaced. If they do replace it the new cushion will be wrapped in plastic this time lol.

Hang on, Aaron. Let me fetch my monocle...

Good one

Good news guys I was at the dealer and the manager has agreed to fix it under goodwill! And I'm getting a new JX35 loaner even better :-D

Yes I love Infiniti of massepequa always looking out for me!
That's excellent. I get the same type of service at my Guelph Infiniti dealership. It's always nice to hear when a Dealership treats their customers properly.

Even if the dealer doesn't cover it you wouldn't have to replace the whole seat and/or seat cushion to get it fixed. Take it to a professional auto detailer and they'll be able to re-dye the seat so you won't even be able to tell it was ever damaged. I had a worn leather seat panel replaced on a 2001 Acura TL and when the repair was complete it looked as good as new.

Dealer isn't replacing the whole cushion their just fixing that part that was damaged. They said they have a guy that works under the dealer that does those type of leather repairs. Atleast I don't have to pay out of my pocket and it will look better than new! And I'm going to get a sweet JX loaner
