Blessings to all. The name is KD. I recently posted my newbie intro to the Infiniti Scene Family.
Im ready to do a couple of mods.
Im hoping you guys could hit me with a couple of ideas for my exhaust. The factory exhaust sounds great... However, Im looking to replace it. I looked under my fx yesterday and noticed some major rust. Deterioation of the brackets and pipe. Its not in bad shape but its slowly getting there. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks guys!

There are 3 main exhausts for our cars and then custom.

1) Nismo - Cruising and jumping on it is louder than the Stillen, but in everyway, it's just a beautiful system. Probably the best system overall for sound and performance. Difficult to find, but nobody here EVER gives theirs up.

2) Stillen - True Dual, sounds great, cruising is very quite( quiter than nismo and invidia) and has a nice sound when you jump on it. Probably the best exhaust if you plan to go FI. But nothing wrong with using it without FI. Easy to find, but seems to have surface rust issues back east where it's wet and they put salt on the roads. Only surface rust, but it does take away from the looks.

3) Invidia - Sounds great, has tendancy to drone, very well made and customer service is great. As stated before, our contact here is Gordon.

4) Custom - Some people have taken off the muffler portion and put in a flowmaster muffler. Sounds mean, but a little too loud for my taste. There are a few aftermarket y pipes ( kukamei, motordyne, megan) and any muffler shop can do the midpipe.

Good luck with your exhaust! There are many pictures and videos of exhausts on here to get a feel for the sound you may be looking for. Many would say if you go for any of the above you really can't go wrong

I didn't realize Chris had Nismo..for some reason I thought he had Invidia or something. Every time I see nismo on a 350Z it's huge with big pipes...I don't remember Chris' having that.

Chris used to have Invidia. He has Nismo for sometimes now.

sweet! I haven't seen it then. Can't wait! What do you think? I know you had Invidia and didn't like the drone and got rid of it for that reason. What are your toughs on nismo?

Don't forget me.

Jonas, the best performance oriented setup is to go dual with 2.5" or 3" running an X pipe for the VKs. If I were to do it again, I would probably go custom dual with and X-pipe and maybe go all crazy with some Euro tuner mufflers, like Eisenmann.

one day il be on that nismo list... :P

Actually, I don't think Jumbo has the Stillen anymore. When big red got totalled, I don't remember Brad mentioned moving over his Stillen exhaust to the new silver. But he does have experience with it.

Too big a pipe without a bigger push on the intake (possibly FI) you are going to hammer your low end. I saw an increase in my low end when I exchanged my Invidia (true dual with X) for the Nismo. Total drop in power was maybe 1-2 H/P at the top end. Personally I prefer to have the low end myself.....
