Meguiar's Wash and Wax Anywhere

Came across this new product Meguiar's released earlier this year called Wash and Wax Anywhere:

and review:

Very interesting product. I've been using Optimum No Rinse for years now but even with that stuff you still need to bring a bucket with you and 5 gallons of water just no rinsing required. But this new Meguiar's product allows you to wash anywhere by just spraying it on and wiping it off with a quality microfiber towel. By the way this isn't like a quick detailing spray as that stuff is used for removing list dust on your car and not heavy dirt accumulation.

I'm thinking about giving this stuff a try. I have yet to come across something that will replace my Optimum No Rinse routine.

I think I prefer to use ONR when on the road. I only use a couple of pails of water with it.
Aaron , one other thing I do is add half a capful of ONR to my regular wash water when washing at home.

I love ONR right now. Best stuff I've ever used and cuts an hour off of wash time.

But this Meguiar's stuff sounds pretty cool as I wouldn't need to drag a wash bucket and water around anymore.

I wonder if the wash part of it is just marketing....wonder if Zaino Z5 would work just as good? Sometimes when my FX is really dirty and I can't get to have it cleaned, I'll simply wipe it down with water and microfiber towel and cleaning it frequently, then go over again with Meguairs ultimate outside spray, but I'm sure you can use that or the zaino, just will spray more without water. Just my take. I'm really curious what ingredient in the product is allowing them say this is a "wash"

I have a big bottle of ONR and haven't used it yet. What does the half a capful of ONR do to the wash?

^^Don't you mean Zaino Z6, it's a detailing spray/gloss enhancer, it works for light dust, I always have it with me.

jonas, I add 1/2 a capful of ONR to my wash water that has my Zaino car wash (Z7)in it I just find it does a great job, something I tried once and I liked the results.

The thing about these kind of products for me is that you have to be careful with them. If it doesn't safely remove the dirt off the surface and I go to wipe it the car will get swirls almost instantly and scratch the paint. That's the bad thing about black paint and it's extremely soft. I can't even wipe my car off with a soft microfiber towel without it leaving scratches behind. Yes the clear is so soft that microfiber scratches too. Jonas if you had black paint on your FX you wouldn't like it lol. It's extremely hard to take care of on the already soft Infiniti clear coat.

When I dry the car off I have to dab it instead to soak up the water.

that's why I typically spray it down with water first and would never use a product like this on a completely dry car.

Here is the thing: I sincerely think your problem with swirls is you don't wax and SEAL enough...seal seal seal seal. If you are that anal about scratches, heck seal every month. You'll never even get close to the clear coat, then you'll never need to keep smoothing out your clear coat spending hours getting your swirls out.

I clean mine off with microfiber towel and don't see swirls man, but I also touch it and after a seal it's like a baby's but and bird crap wipes off like it was done 2 seconds ago. Key is to wax and seal a lot and then the rest becomes ridiculously easy. I bet you 100% this guy has a wax and seal on his paint before using this product, otherwise he'd be leaving swirls all over the place and #2 it would be rougher/harder to get the dried stains/crud off. If you haven't sealed, I highly highly recommend you first clay bar, then use wax to clean the paint, then polish, then wax, then seal twice minimum.

I agree with the sealant, lay down a couple of good coats of real good sealant and your paint is protected.

Jonas, I was taught by my friends that are Detailers that, once your paint is clay-barred, prepped and swirls removed, apply a couple coats of sealant. then, if you want a bit more gloss you can apply your favorite wax.
They told me to put the wax over the sealant, never the other way.

Maybe because then the sealant won't be able to bond to a wax? I sealed with blackfire twice around October of 2011 after putting on 2 coats of wax and it's still beading water. I haven't waxed or sealed the car once since then (been delaying). Hmmmmm. :bulgy-eyes:

You saw my car and it has not been sealed since last fall, and I did not use any wax. Mine is still beading up. I will do it before My long Fall cruise.

I do seal the car at least once a month and wax every other week when I get the chance. That swirl removal I did with my Porter Cable a while back was followed up with a seal and wax. The clear is very very soft thats why my bumper looks terrible cause the paint chips so easily. I looked at other colored Infiniti's and the paint is different than the black Infiniti's. Black Infiniti's paint is softer than the lighter colored Infinti's. That's why you don't experience what I do Jonas. I regret buying a black car sometimes lol.

I'll never buy another black car again though that's for sure. No matter what precautions you take it will always scratch easily. Sealant won't help the soft clear coat. Yes dirt will be able to be washed easily but the moment a microfiber or anything comes in contact with the paint it leaves swipe marks.

I remember reading paint detailing write ups and what not on autogeek and autopia about professionals detailing black infinti's which scratch shield that after wax was applied that when you go to wipe off the wax after hazing the microfiber was leaving ultra fine scratches in the paint. It's one reason why I've given up on trying to keep the paint perfect as can be.
