Opinions on Nitto 420's

Hello everyone! I joined the forum when I bought my '08 several years ago and kind of fell off the radar for a while. Work and moving a few times got in the way and took up the majority of my time. Anyway, my life has started to slow back down to a normal pace so I decided to trade my '08 on a 2012. I really missed the '08 for the first few days because I was so used to it and I wasn't entirely sold on the new front end, but it eventually grew on me. So I've had it for a few weeks and the wheel bug bit me. I've got a staggered set of 22" Giovanna Dallar-5 Limited Editions on order (all black) and I had a question for those of you who have run Nitto 420's. I had Yoko Parada Spec-x's on my last FX and was really happy with them, but I can save a few hundred dollars going with the Nittos this time. So to my question, anyone around here running the Nittos? If so, what do you think of them? I live in FL so I won't have to worry about snow. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

And I know, pics or it didn't happen! As soon as I get the new wheels installed and reach the 10 post cutoff, I'll post pics.

Nitto 420S is a bit noisy to my taste. Traction is very good. Wet traction is excellent. This is my third summer with the set and still have not notice any wear. I would buy it again if the noise is a bit lower. Not that its loud, but when the music off and you really looking for it, you'll hear it.

im interested in the nitttos too, do tires wobble, or follow road imperfections when worn?

Thanks la_fx35! They'll run about $300 less than the Yokohamas. If they wear as well as they have for you, it may be worth it for a little extra noise. My friend at the tire store also offered me the Falken STZ04 for about the same price as the Nittos. I'll look into those this afternoon.

I run the Falken STZ04 currently and there is some road noise with them as well. Not unbearable, but it is there. Traction has been good though in wet/dry conditions.

Well, that's hard to judge. Its all depending on if the road/bridge surface to driving over. There are some bridges that it wobble and try to follow and some don't.

Keep in mind that Andy only drives this set about 8 months out if the year due to winter.

Yep, these are my "summer tires"; hence, "This is my third summer" :wink (2):

They are actually wearing well. I have about 2000 miles on them myself, but the previous owner of the wheels/tires ( i bought them used) had about 8000 miles on them.

Thanks Sideswipe! How long have you had the Falkens? How are they wearing?

Dont buy the Falkens they are so noisy like a worn out bearing. I've had them for a year and I Replaced them with hankook ventus rh06. I considered the nittos also to save a few hundreds but I heared they are noisy. The Ventus are extremely quite.

wow, LAXMAN.. a name I almost forgot.. how are things dude!

Hey Soon what's up? Since my first son was born I've been so busy. I try to check the IS and the ORG once in a while. Just saw your last meet (Perkins Memorial Drive) wish I saw that post before and maybe I could have made it. Thanks for asking Soon. Till next time. Sorry for hijacking this thread

No worries guys, the friendly banter is welcome. Seems like I have more research to do. I may just cave and pay extra for the Yokohamas.
