Leak in my passenger footwell

Infiniti dealers love customers like Aaron.

Great find Aaron.

I've had my battery replaced by the dealer twice already. Haven't had any issues yet....crossing my fingers things remain ok. Wow.

No problem lol. I read through the whole factory service manual a little bit just skimming through things. Everytime I look something up I stumble on to something else that seems interesting to read.

I wouldn't say the dealer hates me, but they park my car in the new cars area instead of the area with all the other cars waiting to be serviced when I go into service so it doesn't get touched. Lol Kenny knows what I'm talking about :tongue (2):

yea i did it before posting thats why i thought it was a seal.

lol no problem. The reason why the right side black plastic cowl below the windshield has to be removed during battery removal because you can't lift the battery up through the opening of the battery cover area. The entire surrounding has to be removed.

If your wanting to test it yourself just take off the battery cover and pour water down the windshield and see if it drips into the microcabin filter area. You can see this from the engine bay area.

mine wasnt free had to pay about $60 ...good for u tho:top:

I hope they replaced the gasket on mine. They just replaced the battery under warranty a few weeks ago and within the past couple days I've been smelling a funky smell. Either the a/c condensation, water from outside causing a damp smelly rug or mice terds.. lol. Ill investigate the situation tomorrow because its raining today.

the batteries are prorated. I just happened to be within the 2 year mark I think or some time where you don't have to pay anything.

I had actually witnessed this on my fx
One day i was driving and i hear this waterfall lol but i didnt pay enough attention to look into what was causing it
Sorry that im not a big help but just letting you know that your not the only one out there

Went to the dealer today they cleaned out the sun roof rails they said the problem ....and charged me $65 they said if that's not the problem am getting my money back ..so I just went outside poured water on the windshield ..no water came inside of the car but water is still getting on the battery and fuse box next to the battery...is this normal ??

uh i doubt that water getting on the battery and fuse box is normal thas jus a disaster waiting to happen

Charged you $65? Bullshit...

And no water should be getting on the battery or fuse box. That's why that seal needs to be changed when the battery is taken out. Don't listen to those people. My car was parked outside in the rain and not one drop of water on the battery and fuse box.

I had this same problem, which was mentioned a few weeks back took it to the dealer and also said to be sun roof drain rails which was clogged they could not replicate the leak but clearly seen where it came from. Had a bad rain storm the other day leaked again but not as much but now have a moldy smell coming from passenger side :mad.:

Well sometimes they need a little bit of pushing in the right direction to get them to listen.

Example: I had the AFS off error light flashing on my dash. Dealer replaced the adaptive headlight computer, headlight, wiring, etc, but still couldn't fix the problem after multiple calls to Infiniti and using Consult III to diagnose it. It took me a little bit of research and time for me to find out the whole time the bulb was just not seated properly in the socket causing the swivel actuator to not make a full complete turn.

Example 2: My outside mirrors were shaking all the time (common 2nd gen FX problem). Dealer said the mirrors needed replacing. I told them there were 3 mounting screws at the bottom that just needed adjusted. They told me there was no such thing. So I ended up taking it home and did it myself. Yes there were 3 mounting screws.

After I told the dealer about these things I figured out myself they were blown away. Someone there actually told me I should work for Infiniti and something about some training center in New Jersey lol. I love my dealer service but sometimes it takes pushing in the right direction to get the job done.

There was a hand full of other things too but I don't feel like going into detail about it lol. After I told the dealer about these things I figured out myself they were blown away. Infiniti of Massapequa. I love tha dealership and service they always treat me real good there. No complaints at all. By the way Infiniti of Massapequa is about 45 minutes away from where I live. I have another Infiniti dealership only 10 minutes away. So that says something about how good their service is.

Just saying sometimes I have to provide my insight when something goes wrong and the problem is unable to get resolved. And it's no specific dealer in general on other cars when I go to the dealership sometimes I have to do the same thing.

One thing I've been told before at a Nissan dealership years ago when I took my mothers Nissan into service the timing chain went out on it. Dealer said it never had a problem even though there was a bulletin on it. It was so obvious the timing chain was rattling. He asked how did I find it and I told him I found it on a Nissan enthusiast forum. He then replied and went on about how people on car forums are stupid and don't know what their talking about and how I shouldn't join car forums. He said people on car forums are paranoid lol.

Just a little short story there.

I've recently had water drip on my passengers foot after going through the car wash.. Infiniti is checking it out tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted!

Had that problem fixed by dealer. They said was the sun roof drain disconnected. Charged me $90. No problem so far.

This scared the shit out of me. I just ran outside right now to see if mine was wet too and it's dry. Thank god lol. Mine was parked outside overnight in that crazy ass rain we had.

I would first have them check the windshield cowl near the wipers. There is a rubber seal at the base of the windshield wear it meets with the black plastic cowl. It keeps the water front escaping into the firewall.

Either that or your experiencing this bulletin:

2009 FX35/FX50 BCM and Around View Camera Monitor Not Working Due to Water Leak

ITB08050:

IF YOU CONFIRM The BCM (Body Control Module) is not working correctly (power windows inoperative, power door locks inoperative, etc), and/or the display for outside cameras (Around View Monitor or Rear Camera) is not working correctly (gray blocks on the screen, steering grid lines do not move, upside down image, etc), and the driver side floor pan is wet (wet floor underneath the carpet or underneath the rubber mat on the engine wall). ACTIONS 1. Find the source of the water leak (see Service Procedure) 2. Use 3M Fast 'n Firm Seam Sealer-or equivalent-to seal water leak(s). 3. Allow the sealer to cure, and then recheck for leaks. 4. Replace the BCM and/or the Around View Monitor Control Unit / Rear Camera Control Unit. See this bulletin for further detail.

It says driver side but maybe the passenger side too? Not sure...

Hey there, I have huge problem with water leak in the passenger side, the water is coming thru the intake cover and cabin filter (air filter, AC filter) and it stops on the air blower, so I suppose the problem is with this windshield cowl, and yes ive changed the battery but here in Bulgaria Infiniti has no idea what seal should be changed when the battery is changed. Can someone give me the part number or photo of the seal which has to be changed when the battery is changing. Thanks

Bringing this back from the dead...

Can anyone please give the part number and photo of the seal that needs to be replaced?

Just replaced the bcm and checked the sunroof drains and wiring harness grommet, everything looks fine but water still gets inside. Don't want the just replaced bcm to go bad! Anyone? Please?

So i had a similar problem as well and its really annoying, i ended up rerouting the passenger side sunrood drain to the ac condensation drain line
And i also noticed there was a big of a gap between the roof trim and the windshield (yes the long chrome trim that extends along the roof) i ended up replacing that and caulking the seem to ensure nothing leaks and i havent seen a leak since
