Blacked Out Headlights / No Reflectors

Taking the bumper off was a pain, but I actually head more trouble removing the headlights. Some of those clips are confusing as hell to unattach!

Anyways, they'll be going back on tomorrow, already sealed and ready to go!

Left the rings around the projectors chrome, and removed the orange side markers, painted the whole interior low-gloss black.

Looks amazing in person! These will be going on a Moonlight White 09

Nice granite counters! Looks great BTW, post pictures when finished:top:

Looks really nice man. Props to getting it done without breaking any tabs. Those headlights are a PITA.

I think leaving the rings chrome is good to give it some contrast. :top:

Your wife lets you use the kitchen as a work bench? I have to cook the lights while she's at work because of the oven ban. Nice lights though...

Yeah, def a pain. Probably the hardest headlights I've baked/painted, and I've done over 10 sets. Taking the bumper off isnt much fun either.

Yeah, it was a debate between going all black, but the problem is that the shroud around the headlight projector wasn't coming off. Taping around the lens/rest of the headlight would have been a pain to do, and cleaning tape gunk off the lens wouldn't have been fun either. Therefore, the easier and more solid route was to tape off the chrome on the part that you paint and leave the rings chrome.

Sir21...I have to make sure to clean up EVERYTHING and not leave a speck of gunk anywhere when I'm done. However, because the headlights are for her daily (The FX), she was a little more leniant than usual.

Great job on the lights. That is exactly how I would like mine to look as well... You stating difficulty in the process is discouraging to me. How about we exchange HL + shipping cash ;-) hehe

Ian, Ian. I feel bad for you now. I know you have been wanting black-outed heads for so long. Maybe one day, after all of our mods are done, we can try doing it at HA's house. I guess you dont want to spend $2500 on the Euro heads on eBay I take it? :skull:

Wow, like looking headlights. Love the chrome ring that you left on the shroud. It makes it very classy. :top: If you could put a DIY together on the removing the bumper and headlights will be awesome!

Came out really nice!! Looks so much better. Probably should be second on the list after one buys their FX. First tint windows then this. Next get your front lip :top:
