I'm about to get my windows tinted and have a few questions which I'm sure many would be able to answer since it seems like I am the only one left :smile (2):

1. Is there anything I should look out for or get done? Question for this is because I had my windows tinted before on a C240 but because I did not get the moleskin it would scratch up the tint film so I just got fed up and took it out.

2. My state's legal limit is 35%, any idea what the back window percentage is? Looks like 20% but since I don't have a meter to test out I am not so sure. I want them to match but I have a yearly safety/emission test which sucks

3. Should I get the rear hatch window tinted? It looks lightly tinted but the front is still visible

tinting your windows is actually relatively simple, I know there are some shops that would even give you a lifetime warranty on tints if it every scratches or peels they put on new ones for free (but the one time price is usually expensive). Not too sure what the back window tint stock on an FX is but I have limo tints on my back window. Just as long as all your windows aren't limo tinted Mass cops really won't give you a problem. As for the inspection see if they would let you 'slide' first if you catch my drift ;), but if they don't just take them off and buy some new film to do it yourself, the tint film on eBay is only a couple of bucks
 
Definitely tint your hatch. I tinted mine with 15% and its dark and it looks fantastic. You can barely see through it during the day in direct sunlight.
 
Oh yeah, tint the windshield 45%..Looks great and cabin heat and glare is much improved. :top:
 
I love my 50% windshield tint. Only downside is the headlight reflection on the road at night looks less visible because of the amount of light that's stopped coming through the windshield.
 
20% on the front is a good match to the rears. However, if you have a light interior, you may want to go 15% to compensate for the extra light coming through the windshield.

I also added 20% on top of the factory rears and hatch for extra darkness. Don't need to use a cargo cover to hide my crap in the back now.
 
I hate being seen. I have my windows tinted 5% in the front and 15% over the rear windows. Soon i will do 45% on the windshield.

When I was kid I used to run from cops for fear of getting tint and mod tickets... I vowed that I will make enough money when I'm older that I can just tell the cops to stop wasting my time and hurry up and give me a ticket and piss off. Yes, that's one hell of a motivation to succeed! Misguided, but hey we all have to motivate ourselves one way or another :nerd (2):

ive been tinting for over 20yrs,the rears are deff 20%..i dnt know what the law is in your state but 20%on fronts would deff match..u might find a diff in COLOR of the film compared to the factory color of the rear glass..many diff manufacturs of film=diff color of film..first of all find an EXPERIENCED tinter...dont worry bout price...shouldnt cost more than $125 for both windows,if you go with a good brand name film,dont pay less that $75,prob junk film....dont be fooled by LIFETIME warrenty...find a good tinter that uses good film and it should last as long as u keep the car..wish u lived by me,i'd hook u up!!! good luck!!!

I haven't gotten a tint ticket in yeaaaaars. I have pba cards and a badge. Id show them that if i were to get stopped. I used to be an emt so i have a ems decal on the back of the fx. When they see me, they make a u-turn and come to get me. But when they get behind me i see them in my mirror pointing to the ems decal and they drive away.

does that match PERFECTLY? or is the front slightly darker/lighter than the rear?
 
I added 35% to rears to make them darker to match the 5% in the front. You gotta also keep in mind that i have the wheat interior so the 5% doesn't seem that dark.
