Reprogram Your TPMS - DIY

What is it about the FX that makes it so difficult to find a tool? The shop I use has one, but they cannot get it to work on the FX. It keeps asking for the sensor in the spare which doesn't exist. We tried to use the G35 setting on the tool to see if we could bypass, but it registers that the FX isn't a G. On top of that, the sensors barely register when scanning them into the tool in the first place. It's why the local Infiniti dealer can't reprogram my TPMS; they can't read the sensors in the rear wheels. The fronts register immediately, but when scanning the rears, it won't scan. The indy shop I use managed to get the rear sensors scanned, but it took dozens of tries and then they couldn't load them into the car.

wow that is awesome man, I've went crazy in the past trying to buy a tool that works on the fx, this is so cool... yeah, I could def see wiring a momentary button to this and then programming would be as easy as koeo and tap the button 5 times to go into learn routine.. wish I could give you more than one thanks :top:

Nissan & Infiniti - Potential shared TPMS designs

Very nice DYI; here is some additional hints that some of you or the owner can validate and add to the DYI.
If Nissan and Infiniti are sharing many designs, I may be not so wrong refering to the following :

  • A tool is available for Nisan owner to reset their TPMS: OTC-3831
Can this be used , to facilitate the process ?
  • A thread from a Nissan forum refers to Service Bulletin on that matter, has anyone here looked into it or stumble upon this other thread : forums.nicoclub.com/tire-sensor-light-on-sensors-give-reading-t548380.html

Thanks for this DIY it worked well clearing the error and programming my new TPMS sensors.

Used it for my G35 and at first it didn't work. Found out the tpms error clear procedure needed done then the programming.

Not that it effects you guys but on my G35 the tpms wire is further up under the dash beyond th OBDII port. Had to take more things apart to get to it but all worked well in the end!!! Thanks again.

Still can't get this to work. I get into test mode without issues. But no matter what, I can't get the sensors to program. I've done this 3 times now and tire pressures are spot on. It just flashes for a long time, then goes solid. The sensors are new, the shop verified that they work and can be loaded into a reset tool (the shop couldn't reset because the tool has wrong info for FX, was looking for spare). I'm driving on the highway at 55mph. Any ideas?

Worked perfectly on my 04 FX35. (Had all four TPMS sensors replaced at Costco.) Great DIY! Thank you very much. So simple even a cave man could do it!

Been having an issue with my TPMS flashing and not being able to get reading on one wheel. This worked perfectly, thanks so much.

from reading this, it seems like such a pain in the ass to do. I don't think I could set up the pressure to exactly those values. Maybe I try it in the summer but doubt I will have the will do it

I have to do this. That first serious cold day here in NY, one tpms sensor just stopped working. Others says its the cold and others say its the battery. Gona try this and hoping it reconnects. My tpms light flashes 60 times and goes solid. One the screen where its supposed to show a psi number, it just shows two stars. (**)

I had to reset my TPMS light via the OBD scanner, when I had a leak in my rear passenger side tire couple of weeks ago. Unlike my MDX, when you fill your tire with the right amount of tire pressure the TPMS light would go away, this has to be reset via scanner. First I thought I had a faulty TPMS, but that wasn't the case.

Did you drive for a little while first? Once you get the wheels rolling for a few hundred feet or so, the system gets a clear reading, displays the correct psi, and dash light would go out.

Did this work for you John?

Mine did the same thing when we hit -15. I had one go out and all the others are good.

it's got to be the cold. Mine worked perfectly until it hit -30C, then one stopped working. Next day another, a day after that the rest. Can this be reset by a dealership with a scanner or something or are these steps what they use as well to fix this problem? Because if they can't do it in a few min with a scanner, and they will charge me 100$ to mess with this process, i am just gonna leave it alone. I don't really need the TPMS anyway

Since the swap of winter wheels, TPMS light is flashing. Going to give this a try too.

Yup, mine is doing the same thing for about a month now...started out with only one (**) but the last week or so its two (**)

I used a friends TPMS checker tool and all 4 sensors are reporting normal batteries and report psi readings.

I will def give this procedure a try this weekend & report back
