E&G Grilles Installed (upper and lower)

Orange, I'm looking at getting the E&G grill, but I wanted to ask someone who has one a couple of questions before moving forward. First, did you scuff the inner 3/8 of the grille opening and paint black per the instructions? Was it necessary to paint everything behind the grill (radiator, misc pipes and parts, etc) so that you cant see them through the grille? Finally, I don't see how the emblem is attached to the new grille. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I did not scuff or paint anything. The guy I bought it from had pre installed a chrome mesh grille behind the e&g grille which worked beautifully for blocking anything from getting through and also made it look even better. The emblem was already attached when I mounted it. I think on the e&g website theres a pdf download for step by step installation. Check it out and let me know if you have any more questions. Btw call me Joe ;)

Sure thing, Joe; I'm Dave. Could you tell how the guy you purchased it from attached the mesh to the E&G grille....wire, plastic ties, weld...?

Im gonna see if I can snap a couple of pics from the inside today for yah but I believe he used what you call long flathead screws attached with nuts at the ends. Very similar to
what the grille brings in the kit just longer. I still have his number so I'll ask him where he got the mesh from. Imho every grille should come with some kind of protection. Or at least this one.

I installed the E&G upper and lower grill set this week. For anyone on the fence about the prospect of drilling on your FX, you should be aware that it consists of making just one 1/4 x 1/2 inch slot and extending two existing 1/4 x 3/8 inch slots to 1/4 x 5/8 inch slots. All drilling is through the plastic of the front bumper fascia behind the original grill and it bears mentioning that the installation is completely reversable if for some reason you cared to.

still debating if i should get the E&G grille and powder coat or go badge less :ninja:

Bear with me...first photo post. Joe...I'm lovin it; I've hated the 09 - 11 grill since I bought the car. I still don't get why they ever thought the wavy design was a good idea or why it took until the 12 revision to fix it.

I guess I need to figure out this pic upload thing...stand by.

Im not a fan of using photobucket or imageshack for anything. Wish it was just copy and paste. Things would be so much easier and user friendly than having to create a seperate account somewhere. This is still a great site though. C'mon Dave I wanna see those pics! Heres a drumroll for yah...on second thoughts heres the whole band :band:

Ohhhhhhh, that's how you imbed a picture. Sorry for the delay.

I see now. The2010 has the camera on the front frame of the car. The 2012 has the camera attached to the grill.
