The funny thing is that this has happened to me too. I went to pull the armrest down in the back and the whole strap came off. I just put the bolt that holds it back on myself as I didn't see any reason to drive to Infiniti to put it back on when all they do is retorque the bolt to a tighter spec. A little bit of a pain in the ass because I had to remove the whole armrest to do it.

By the way you'll know if your strap is about ready to come off if you wiggle it around and it feels loose. It should be really tight. Just a heads up....
