Debadging the FX? Clean or tacky??

Be sure not to pull up too hard on any corners of the emblem because the other corner will poke into the car paint. Good luck! Looks so much smoother when done, and takes the attention away from the emblems and puts it on the FX :)

Thanks for the tip. Ill keep that in mind. Do you think the heating part is really necesarry?
 
I debadged mine on a sunny day and needed no extra heating whatsoever. The adhesive was nice and soft and the floss cut through it easily.

I also debadged a friend's Mini Cooper on a coldish day in March without any heat as well. No issues at all.

Oh yeah, the heating part is definitely necessary. It won't budge otherwise. I heated mine up for maybe 45 seconds with the blow dryer 3 or so inches away from the emblem.

Edit: At least I think so haha.

You guys use dental floss? I always use fishing string whenever I debadge a car. :hmmmm:
 
I dunno, would you floss with fishing line? Your paint is delicate, so if I had to choice, floss is the way to go because it's not as harsh. But fishing line method is fine overall, tons of people do it.
 
I debadge all my vehicles. It'll look clean. Waxed floss with a heat gun (if you don't have one that you have multiple settings on use a hair dryer) will make your job hellova lot easier.
 
I used a hair dryer, floss, and goo gone as well. came off pretty easy. I like the clean simplistic look of a debadged rear end.
 
Personally, i think its tacky.. I would keep them on. But I have an fx45 so maybe that changes things because i would want people to know they are dealing with a v8 lol... so if you have a fx45 or fx50... i would really say no... but i dont get the point of removing the brand if thats what you own...
 
the badge is an afterthought and takes away from the lines of the car. ON ANY CAR! i remove any badge that isn't held on by pins or screws or recessed into the bodywork. looks better and cleans up easily when washing/waxing.

yeah it would scratch the paint if you got close enough but the trick is not to once the badge is off you can get the sticky part off using the low heat setting on the heat gun and rolling it with your finger.

You not seeing the point of removing the emblems is just fine, and you don't have to remove yours. Removing mine came with an overall simplification of my exterior. I am proud to own an FX, but I would see a distraction from my clean/sleek concept every time I looked at the rear end if the emblem was still there. In my eyes, the emblem creates a lack of symmetry.

As far as 45s and 50s leaving their emblems on simply because it is a 45 or 50, that's good for you, but I'd still debadge mine. It's all about personal taste.

Ahankar. The only people who will know that "FX45" = V8 are FX owners and/or fans, and those people will be able to tell which model you own by the sound of your exhaust.
 
Haha, ok maybe later today. Now im just thinking where to stick the FX35 back on. The steering wheel, the dash, the door panels...hmmm...imagine that
