Was curious if anyone uses fuel additives added to their gas? Instruction manual says not to yet my dealer says you can in their local maintenance book and alot of people on different forums.

I did some research and everyone swears by Chevron Techron:

Since I been having some spark knock occasionally I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it. I kind of call bullshit on the instruction manual saying it's not recommended. I recall reading that they also don't recommend the use of tire shine :eek.: BS!!

It's all about the science. Find out what exactly a particular additive contains and what effect it will have and decide for yourself. The owners manual is effectively a blanket statement. To avoid the possibility of endorsing a bad additive they forbid all additives, which is an easy solution. That is their legal department talking, not the engineering department.
.
With that in mind I use sea foam on a regular schedule (in the gas tank) and octane booster when I am forced to fill up at a sketchy station. Nothing else (IMO) is worth the risk.

I use seafoam in the fuel tank at every oil change and in the crankcase 100 miles before an oil change.

Aaron, for you it will probably help if you are getting watered down gas or other issues with the gas. If you got very good gas, I don't think you would need this stuff at all, but since it appears you may be, then this stuff should help a lot.

I'm a firm believer of using top tier gas. Sure, all gas comes from the same supplier, but everyone adds different amounts of detergents/cleaners/additives. In Chicago, I only fill up with Shell V-Power, BP or Mobil. I've noticed lately my FX runs really well on BP. But to answer your question, I do add additives to my tank everyone once in a while. I use Sea Foam, Lucas, and I do have some bottles of Chevron too.

No matter how good BP gas is I could never support them after the disaster they created in the gulf....

I use the STP Injector cleaner every once in a while - maybe once every two months. I only use Exxon Premium so i probably don't need it as often but... i do it anyways.

Always Premium gas too (ouch lately). My neighbor's brother is one of the guys who developed the B/G additives. I tied both the oil and gas treatments, nothing has blown up yet,,my whip is still peppy at 36k miles!

Peace&Love!
