IDK WTF is wrong with the car.

So, yesterday when I was driving back home from work my car started to act funny, the revs are going up and down. Right away I knew that if I had to come to a full stop the car would die. Once I took my exit and got to the stop the car died... So I started the car again and put it on D, when I did the revs went all the way to the bottom I had to floor it so it wouldn't die on me again, I managed to park in a hotel parking lot. Had to have the at towed to the shop. The mechanic spent all morning trying to figure out what is happening but the computer says nothing, they tried cleaning the throttle body but it still the same, now the computer was plugged in again and showed something wrong with the grounding?... Hope this is it. If you guys happen to had this problem before please..

when was the last time you did a complete service of your FX, given it's 2004 it would need some attention.

I would have these following checked, but I bet others will chime in:
1. battery
2. throttle body
3. intake air filter
4. intake air leaks if any
5. spark plugs
6. ecu reset (pedal dance)
7. seafoam the gas tank

Battery, spark plugs, intake filter were done about a month ago, all the fluids were done too. Haven't tried the Ecu reset. my mechanic says that the ECU is not showing anything wrong, no check engine light, no codes, the only thing it shows is something wrong with the grounding.

What is the code number he's getting? If its code u1000..then that relates to the 2 wires grounded behind the dash.

My bet is actually on the throttle body going dead. Has to be replaced.

Hmm, if something is wrong with the throttle body, it usually would leave a trouble code though.

Yeah I would check the throttle body, they tend to go bad.

yes, the sensor is what can go wrong but its built into the throttle body. $50 sensor becomes $
350 throttle body in some cases.

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me

Did you get your problem fixed?

This has happened to me in other cars and it all led to a bad fuel pump. Replace the fuel filter while you're at it. Please update so the community will know the diagnosis and remedy!

Good luck.

Ok, so the car is fixed. The problem turned out to be the ECU. What happened was that when the guys at the shop did the battery for some reason the ECU got messed up. So they had to tune it up and voila, problem fixed. They also cleaned the throttle body which is in "excellent condition", my mechanic told me. The car is running great! now, I'm even getting better mpg, used to be 16 now is 19.3. Very happy with the results. I'd like thank you all for your concern and suggestions.

nice, haha I tossed out a few suggestions and hoping 1 would match. ecu, who would of guessed it.

was the ecu tune responsible for the improved mpg? I have a horrible gas consumption. I do most of my driving in the city though
