what would be the best plenum spacer available for the vq? spacers or the whole intake manifold? i found a Skunk 2 5/8 VQ G35 or 350Z Plenum Spacer for 150 bux.not sure if i should buy or look out for another type.

all spacer will do the same job. Motordyne was one of the first. The rest just made similar. I got a motordyne because he has a in house dyno to test and shows real world dynos. They all give you gains . They might cost a little more but its worth it for me

If I remember correctly, 5/16 is the best with low end gain. I have the Crawford Plenum cover. Love it!

All the same at lower RPMs. At the higher ones you can see YELLOW more, maybe because its a brighter color or maybe cause its on top at some points. The main point is maybe they all make gains and the dyno butt cant really feel one or two ponies. Either get the cheapest out there or get the nicest looking one. Many figure out that way.

whats the advantage of a plenum cover? would it allow more airflow then a traditional 5/8 spacer with oem plenum? Is there any other spacers or mods available while your already disassembling the top half of the engine?

also the skunk2 i found listed for only 03-05 g35 and 350z. will it fit on my 08?

I got in on a group buy years ago for the Pure Innovations 10mm plenum spacer. Exactly in between the 5/16 and 1/2. Works great, but I really would buy whichever one you can get the best deal on. They all do the same thing...just find the best price.

The spacer is the same for a g/z/fx last time I looked.

The FX never got a "rev-up" engine because its not a manual trans.but there is a lower Plenum called MREV2 that has lower ports polished and widen. It makes a lot of gains for the revup models but only a little on normal de motors.

Plenums and spacers both function the same. Like I said get what u like physical or in your price range. They will net you the same 7-9hp as shown in the dyno link.

While doing the mod you could to a throttle body spacer . I have one on mines. Just extra 4 bolts with the Plenum off

been playing around with the idea for a while. Been going back between the 35 and 45. I know the 35 engine a lot more then a 45. If i do blow up a 35 its dirt cheap to replace VS a VK45DE. Plus i can reuse my 5/16 iso copper motordyne spacer, revup intake, Z Tube, FI HFC, nismo t-stat. The other mods wont fit, like my coilovers =(

Just waiting for a dealer to get a nice FX that i want and to offer me a decent price on my G. Black on brick would be ideal.

So my birthday is coming up soon and my fiancé keeps asking me what I want for my birthday! I was thinking of asking for a plenium spacer but I was wondering if someone call explain what are the benefits of it, how they like it, and how hard is it to install?

^^^ of course your response to her was that she already gave you the greatest gift of all and nothing monetary will ever top the joy that you felt when she said yes to your proposal to be your wife :top:

Then you say you want a turbocharger setup.

In theory it increases the airflow which in turn produces more power. The VQ manifolds have this really sharp angle, which limits airflow. When you take it apart and see it, you will understand it better. Spacers are easy to install, same concept as your H&R wheel spacers.
