They are telling me, that i:" The intake will increase 17-29 hp from base depending on other moods in your car, such as chip, exhaust, etc." Can it be real?

George... It's a lie.. Intakes don't make that kind of power increase on a non turbo car.. It will look nice and sound louder though.

Misleading, yes. But not a total lie. No intake alone can do that unless there were major restrictions in the intake (I think on some older cars), but it is very possible coupled with other mods it could produce that kind of power increase.

If the stock intake is restrictive and you increase the "exhale" of the engine with headers/exhaust, you'll want to "inhale" just as fast, but most likely need a tune to account for the extra flow unless the ECU can handle it.

I'm guessing the only one here I know of is Lance that would make that much power increase from an intake because he has cams, headers, exhaust, tune to all work in harmony.

If you see 1,000 HP beasts like Toyota Supra's you just see an open cone in an open engine bay right next to the engine.

Ian, I thought you were putting your money where you mouth is and buying it. I'm going to give back to IS and give a review to see if it's even worth for you 2nd generation FX's to buy or not. Fair enough?

If it's a simple aluminum tube with vacuum fittings and MAF adapter plate with cone filter, it should work fine for looks and sound and probably .25-.5 mpg increase.

Doesn't look well designed imo and I don't like the idea of a short tube that just sits in the middle of the bay sucking up heat. The lack of support for the 2nd Gens is starting to be a real disappointment , however I won't just throw money away on some unproven or incomplete system because I'm bored. It is what it is. And yes, with enough supporting mods an intake can makebthat power.. Just need cams, pulley, honed etc :)

I agree. I would also never buy a performance part from any company that makes electric "superchargers"...
