Ok, so I bought my wife an fx50 2011, and its arriving from CT next week. In advance of that I bought these things from swellparts. I 'assumed' they would be plug and play, so I just bought them:

Infiniti Logo Hats Pink: I mean this should be plug and play right? :)

Dual DVD Headrest System -Dual DVD Headrest - Graphite (black), they have an infiniti part number: 999U8EV000
Anyone know about this setup? Is it easy to install? I went with these because they should be plug and play
I know there are after market systems out there, but the ones from infiniti have to work with their factory wiring

First Aid Kit - Not sure why it didnt come with this originally (or do they??) I just ordered it to make sure there was one in the car, I am hoping these is a special accessorory access panel in the trunk that allows this to be stowed out of site

All Season Floor Mats - again, we live in Chicago, IL we get plenty of the white stuff, and I dont want to ruin the interior

Stainless Steel Illuminated kick plate set - I figured why the hell not, I assumed that there was a convient cable under the non glow ones that the car comes with, so these should be a quick pop off of the old, pop on of the new (with prior plugin of cable).

Would love any insight into the DVD system's plug and play ability and the kick plates.

Thanks!

Jon

FIRST, thank you VERY much for the quick response, I have a feeling those docs are going to be PERFECT...

Now the bad part, here is the error I get when I click your links:

Try these instructions then:

1. Go to this link: http://72.3.186.204/Home.aspx

2. Click on the blue tab that says accessory instructions on the right hand side of the page.

3. Now choose FX for your make

4. Choose 2011 for your year

5. Then click on view all accessories from that list you see

6. Then choose which instructions you want to view for which accessory from that list.

Hope that helps!!

PERFECT! Thats awesome, I really appreciate you giving me a hand like that, it worked perfectly. Now if only I knew how to 'thank' someone (or maybe I am not allowed to yet), you'd be the first recipient of a thank you from me!

Much appreciated!

Jon

There is a thanks button right under his post on the right side....

Definitely will. This damn thing is going to have like 'every' option. I didnt ask for 1/2 of them, the dealership already did them, prior to purchase (no cost to me), and I'm adding the ones I actually wanted... so should be pretty slick car. lol. When I go to sell it, no one will be able to say 'oh well I wanted this option and yours doesnt have it' lol..

The kickplates look dead simple but the headrest's i dont know about, the instructions make it look daunting. All of those wires...

Hell I didnt like the work to get the kick plates in either, but yeah, its still going to be no problem. Its going to take a lot of time, but since I already ordered them I'll do it. I'll take a weekend in my heated garage to get it done :).

I was hoping it was a LOT easier to do, but it does looks tedeous, but I'll still get it done.

how much you pay for the kick plates? and where did you get them from. Want to order for my FX. I installed them on my G37 and it is dead simple. The instructions look way more complicated then it really is.

I got them from swellparts.com based off some post on here or other infiniti forum that said they were a safe bet, and boy they were, relative to what others were charging for those headrest DVDs. So while I was ordering those, I had them throw in all that random stuff, kick plates, hat for wife, first aid kit and all season matts. I'd have to look at my invoice, but I think like $250 shipped. He discounted all of the parts since I did a 'large' order.

You must be quite the negotiator........as a customer of Sewell I don't normally know them to throw in anything :wink (2):

Look forward to seeing your pics of the headrest DVD's installed. I have been thinking about that option myself and in hindsight I should have had them install it when I bought it.

Good luck.

You would be correct, there was nothing they could do on pricing when I first said 'ok so what can you do for me on price,' the guy said I can take $20 off, lol. It was not until I said 'ok well let me see what else I want and I'll call you back' that he said 'oh well if you want to do a multiple item order, I can definitely work with you on prices'.... I was like ok cool.

So THEN I call the dealership that I am BUYING the car from and im like, hey hook me up, what can you do the DVD headrests for, and they said 'oh for you.. 2100... they retail for 2400'... I was like oh f this.. I said no thanks, I'll take just the car then :) And no the 2100 was NOT installed. So I called Sewell right back and said LETS DO IT :) And orderd about 4-5 things and saved about $120 bucks total. So not to shabby :) for just ASKING. I said in another thread, I am a penny pincher, and I dont mind saving MY money anywhere I can. It doesnt hurt to ask, all they can do is say no, and I'll go look elsewhere.

Yeah, I am NOT looking forwarad to the install, but I have a garage most would die for, and so I will have every tool at my disposal (not that its going to make it any easier), but electrical is old-hat to me, I put an american v8 in a porsche 944, and that required a lot of wiring reconfiguration and modifications... so this will just be an exercise in patience, doing everything right and slowly (on a weekend, when wife doesnt need the car).

Anyone in Chicagoland is welcome to come by and watch or give a hand, or just check out my garage:
