2003 - 2008 Infiniti FX35 FX45 Kido Racing Coilover Group Buy LIVE

I just looked at the group buy list on page 4 of this thread again. The FX35 guys were ordering 10 kg front. So my front spring upgrade after the group buy was from 10 kg to 12 kg on the FX35, not from 8 kg to 10 kg in my previous post.

I like 12 kg front on the FX35. Shadow, go for 12 kg front then. :smile (2):

I got 10kg front and rear and its perfect imo. On full soft damping it floats a bit like an 80s Cadillac and on full hard is feels like there are no springs at all.

I'll take better comparative notes when I take the 12kg-equipped Silver Surfer for a spin. ;)

Wait, Andy, are you saying that you had 10kg installed for a time, then upgraded? Or did you get the stiffer fronts prior to install?

I had 10kg originally with the group buy with the rest of the FX35 guys, then afterward I had Ed order me a set 12 kg for the front. I liked the 12 kg front on the FX35.

So can one of you explain the difference in the spring rates please? I'm confused. Does higher make the ride stiffer? (12 compared to 10)

Spring rate is the amount of weight needed to compress the spring. So a spring rated at 12kg/mm means, it needs 12 kg of weight to compress the spring down 1 mm. The higher the spring rate the stiffer the spring will be and will directly affect the ride quality and handling of the vehicle.

Got it! Thanks for the explanation! What are people with 45s running?

I have 12 kg front and rear. Logan has 12 kg front and rear. FX45Chicago has 10 kg front 12 kg rear. Slamming45 has 10 kg front 12 kg. I guess its a preference. I like it a bit stiffer in the front so 12 kg front works for me.

I just made my payment for a full set, it was already pre stated in the title rear 12 and front 8.

All you guys talk about 10 in the front. Is this something I should change. I plan on lowering quite a bit on 22's.

Is 8 more of a softer ride? im not very familiar with coilovers, I have only had springs in the past...

Now the stupidest question of all. Can you change this rating via a setting on the strut or something. Or are they in-fact different struts or springs..

Also, a big thanks to Ed for setting this up for me. I asked that poor guy a ton of questions! Your the man Ed.

This forum is full of cool people. everybody is nice and helpful. It has all been much appreciated. I'm just getting started on my new(ish) fx. I just sold my 89 Supra that I had all tricked out 600hp. 1jz. 5 speed. modifications for day.... A buddy made me an offer I couldn't refuse. And I still get to drive it ;) now we will see what I can do with an fx..

8 kg is softer ride for sure. 10 kg is good. If you looked at the original group buy, most are 10 kg front and a few FX45 are 12 kg front. Go with 10kg.

Agreed, you want at least 10 in the front. If you look at most performance car specs the spring rates are higher in front due to balance braking and steering dive. I went from 8 to 12 in the front and really like the differance, planted, solid and you can dial in the comfort setting. Feels firm but not intense, kind of BMW style.

What size tires are on your GTRs Logan? Are you slammed on the coils?

Tires are 295/40's. I had the BC's removed and KIDO CO's installed during the engine work and they still need to be adjusted back down. Before the work it was tight, with the lower profile tires it was lower still.

Ok. Thanks. For the info. I'm going to email mark at kido and see if we can swap to 10 in the front. I should have defiantly specified this on the PayPal notes or something. Hopefully I can get it done.

What's your tire brand on your 295/40 Lance?

Thanks
