Transmission reflash needed?

My '09 has just about 16,500 miles on it and I use it daily for work. I've read a lot about reflashing the transmission on the site but haven't really thought about doing it. Today, while driving up a slight hill, my car revved high as if it slipped into neutral. I thought I somehow switched it to neutral, when i finally saw it was still in drive. It seemed as if it was looking for the next gear but couldn't find it.

I slowed to a stop sign and just thought it was one of those rare occurrences and carried on. While continuing on the road, the transmission was stuck in 1st and 2nd gear. I threw it in shift mode but it didn't respond. It didn't even indiciate that it was in "DS" mode...just "D" mode.

For the rest of the day, i felt the hard downship between 2nd down to 1st. It was very noticeable. I didn't have any codes and no lights came up on my dash.


Anyone else had the same problem? Any advice?
 
No real problems with my transmission. Just the occasional annoying lag when trying to overtake someone.

Theres an old reflash out that is suppose to fix the harsh downshift from 3rd to 2nd.

I have the same issue, I consulted the dealership and they have no clue about reflashing the trans.
 
Had the transmission reflashed today (along with my courtesy detail/car wash) and it shifts much smoother.
 
Spoke to the head mechanic yesterday at the dealership and he told me he was just speaking with someone at headquarters back in November and he was told that a brand new update will be coming out soon and this will fix ALL the transmission issues on the 7 speed people have been having since day. He said it's just a matter of days before it comes out.

No problem! He wasn't sure when it was coming out it could just be any day since the software is taking some time to make. Someone told me that not enough people have been complaining about the transmission that's why. Most people that aren't car enthusiasts like you and I don't recognize these transmission quirks. We make up only a small percentage of the people that recognize and notice the problem that buy Infiniti's with the 7 speed because not everyone is an enthusiast. That's why it's been taking so long.
 
give me an email address or a form to fill out and I'll let them know....the problem is I don't think it's given that much attention.
 
after owning this car for 3 weeks, I'm already tired of the transmission. the 2nd-1st downshift when coming to a complete stop has got to be the most annoying feeling ever. I hope the reflash will resolve this problem.

You probably driving in DS mode?
 
after my reflash, the transmission is a little smoother. But at times it still doesn't feel as smooth as it should for a high priced SUV/crossover. There are times where I miss my M35x...even with nearly 100k on it the transmission felt smoother than the FX
 
hey, what dealership did you take your car to? I live in Phila, and I take my car to Holman Infiniti to get it service & they dont have a clue what they're doing.

not at all. The tranny is much smoother in the DS mode. ODD, very odd.
