Revving the engine.

If you rev your engine up to 6k for a brief second while the engine is warm, will it cause any issues? I had somone ask me this today while looking at my FX:confused.:. I didn't know what to tell them. Personally I was not willing to find out either.
 
Why would something happe? I do that once in a while to get te wifey outta the house quicker. Works better than the horn....
 
Not immediately but it does increase wear. How much depends on many factors, but if longevity is high on your list of priorities, I wouldn't make a habit of it. That said, I've been taking mine to 6k+ way too often lately in the name of science and she still purrs like a kitten...

I never do that, to me it is senseless, and on a continued basis I don't think it is good for your engine or for your gas mileage.
