The Official Unichip Q Tuning Thread

so tchuck--- can you provide any information on HP gains, torque, 0-60 times, etc since installing the UnichipQ?

My FX hasn't been on a dyno...well, ever, so unfortunately I don't have any figures. Though you could stop by and drive mine if you like. I can switch between "stock" and "tuned" maps for reference.

I've been waiting for Aaron at UniChip Tuning to get back from vacation so he can fine-tune my Air Fuel Ratios on my 2003 Infiniti FX45.

I called UniChip and it appears he's the only one there that can do it.

I was just going to ask if you gotten anywhere with tuning. Tim emailed one his map base on the 350Z. I was gonna try it out over the weekend. Well I will put it on this afternoon. Will report back.

I have your laptop Andy=)

What are you seeing on the gauge?

14.6 idle. the rest seems fine. it just smells like rich, like car gas at idle. i remove the unichip, smell is gone. Chris had the same thing on his FX45, but his ECU learned and it doesn't smell anymore. But he has a 2005. Shrug, any ideas?

What does the gauge read when you pull the Unichip (no smell)?

Forgot to mention: I recently went through DEQ with my "performance" map loaded (takes the afr to 12.5 @wot) and passed with flying colors. If it weren't for my gauge mounted next time the clock the tuning would be completely invisible.

Another update coming this afternoon with real numbers...

:good: Tim. I've been off on the Unichip tuning for awhile now. Need to get back at this soon!

Hey Tim/Andy....for you guys running the 350z maps....what rpms did you set the rev limiter at? I know i read before that the 350Z maps were too high. Just want to be sure when I have Aaron load my maps for me...been putting off the unichip due to some other unforseen expenses but still
on my soon-to do list lol

I set mine 7200, and I think this is what Tim set his to as well.

I meant to update this thread about that very subject. As it turns out (contrary to my original thoughts, the rev limiter control is in our ecu's in the form of a crystal tuned to a specific frequency. Ergo, the Unichip cannot remove or raise the limiter. It can step in early and apply a few different limiting routines (soft or hard, mainly, with a few variations of each), it cannot alter the info flashed to the ecu. Unichip sets all their tunes with that 9900 limit because there is no "off" setting on the limiter.

In short, don't worry about it. The FX35 limiter is right around 7k and there's no reason to lower it.

aghh...good to know. Thx Tim.

I'm thinking about getting Unichip as well. Do you guys get slightly better mpg after the Unichip?

Only performance mod I have is. Will it give some decent gains?
* Stillen intake with z-tube
* Motordyne 5/16 plenum spacer
* Kakumei Y-pipe
