R1 concepts get their rotors from Centric. You can get the Centric blank rotors cheaper at rock auto. I bought from r1 after talking with them...thinking they were sending me the premium Centric rotors..which would have been a great price....I was wrong...they sent me the regular stock centric blanks... They even have the centric part # engraved on the outside of the rotors. They didn't even send me the premium blanks...just the stock replacement centric rotors as confirmed by the part number from centric.

Other than my issue with r1 not really conveying what your really getting, Centric rotors in a r1 concepts box, the centric rotors
have been really good. Use them now on both cars....no issues what so ever.

When I ordered my R1 Premium rotors they accidentally sent me a set of each (Premium and e-line). The Premiums are close to twice as heavy and significantly thicker internally (same overall thickness dimension) than the e-lines. I've been using the Premiums for about a month now and they're great.

Centricparts.com: Notice the xxx.42092 for the front and xxx.42078 for the rear. And on R1 Concepts... look at the ending designation again.... .xxx.42092. Centric makes these parts for them. Centric also makes the Posi-Quiet brand. I would shop around to see if you can get better...

That 5 digit suffix on the Centric (and R1) part number only indicates the size/vehicle application. The materials used and subsequent machining and/or treatments are independent of that portion of the part number. In essence, even though two rotors may share those 5 digits, they may still be made from different materials and be treated, slotted, and/or painted differently. [ST]You're right though that the Centric "Premium" rotors are exactly the same as the blank R1 "Eline" rotors. Also, for reference; the R1 "Premium" rotors are called "High Carbon" rotors by Centric, but they are exclusively retailed (for our application) by R1[/ST]. <- That's not right.

Another Centric tidbit: In addition to the Posi Quiet brand, Centric also owns Stoptech, Powerslot, PowerAlloy, C-Tek, and SportStop.

tchuck that makes sense..but in this case....R1 does get their blanks and rotors from centric. If you go to your actual application on the R1 website...they actually show the diagram and stats for each rotor from the Actual Centric website. Why would they do this? The exact same measurements? The exact same part numbers from the R1 website and the Centric website? AND THE EXACT SAME DIAGRAM.

I actually ordered the Eline rotors from R1, and what came to my door is engraved 121.42080(04 FX35)....the exact part number from the centric ctek. IF R1 had done these...it should have been engraved EOE.42080 according to their part#'s. Also, it arrived in the exact box as described from Centric on their website. The slotted and drilled elines are probably cut by R1, or requested to have a certain pattern by R1 to centric, out of the centric rotors. Same as the Premium slot/drilled are cut out of the 120.42080(04 FX35) Premium Centric rotors.

R1 is located in La Habra California. Centric is located in City of Industry California, approx only 8 miles from each other. R1 orders orders their rotors from Centric.

R1 E-Line = cut from Centric C-Tek
R1 Premium = cut from Centric Premium

Sorry, I know whats going on here..and I hate that I overpaid for these dang rotors that were called "ELINE" when they are in fact "CTEK" and I coud have gotten them cheaper.

Read my post again. We are in agreement that all R1 rotors come from Centric. Our disagreement lies in the lineage. Upon further examination, you're right about the R1 Elines being Centric C-Tek units. I was mistaken. I seem to remember though, that the R1 Premiums start out as Centric "High Carbon" parts, though I can't find any supporting info either way right now. As far as the diagram on the R1 site - they use that 120-xxxxx diagram for both Eline and Premium rotors, and they are definitely different. As I said before the Premiums weight close to twice as much as the Elines...

Agree about the weights cause the elines are actually cteks. Premiums=Premiums. I think R1 makes a mistake and should have 121.42080 on their elines...this is the mistake I made and why I ordered them.. I thought I was getting the 120.xxxx Preium rotors...according to their image..I should have.... i got the lower 121.42080.. I called them and complained. They say there's an error on the website, but obviously still never corrected it.

If you look at pics of the premium centric and premium r1..they are the same (blanks that is)

You're right on both counts. I just dug up a picture of my set of front R1 Premium rotors under a set of rear R1 Eline rotors, in their boxes as shipped from R1...

i noticed that one of the side of my rotor is thinner than the other, can this be cut at a mechanic shop to make it even? or i need new rotors?

Unless you have or know someone who has a brake lathe, having rotors turned is almost as expensive as new rotors. Personally I'd just get the new rotors.
