Want to confirm - 1st Gen G35 Muffler (coupe) fitment on a FX35

No lucky :confused.:, i need metric (60mm) piping and they only carry 2.25 or 2.5 inches. I repeat that is a no go, no go. Time to source piping online... does anyone have recommendations?

just cut it off at the muffler and weld a J bend 2.5" out to the tips? What's the actual internal diameter of the exhaust tip piping? the 2.25 might work actually.

Hey Pat, I was in the same situation with the tips. My tail pipe was 60mm. I order 2.25" inlet tips. The shop expand the tip just enough to fit over the 60mm tail pipe. It's gonna tough to find metric piping though. In any case, if you can find some 60mm piping, the shop still need to expand it a little so it can slide over into the tail pipe before they can weld it up, why not just use the 2.25" piping. Speaking from experience, when the shop weld the tip/piping you want to be there so make both sides are even and level.

Ed and Andy hit it on the spot, perfectly.

Picked up 2.25 SS tubing from school's machine room. Also got the head welder on cornell's formula one racing team to do the TIG/build.

1.5 hours into it and our progress so far

- Cut off tips
- Grinded, cleaned mating points
- Sand blasted extension pieces
- Started on 1 of 4 welds

Will be finishing up the remainder of the welds tomorrow then polishing the SS piping so its shiney like the rest of the exhaust. Sorry no detailed pics like Dave's, was too busy drooling over their engine dyno and some of their past project car builds.

Sure will, i am also considering to go little quieter on the exhaust note, the spintech muffler is wayyyyyy too loud these dayswonder if fujistubo y back or greddy will generate less havoc everytime i start the car.
Lucky you can walk to gimmie, although its only hour away from syracuse.

I had a flowmaster prior to the GReddy and dang it got quiet! Similar volume to stock while cruising and it lets loose when you go WOT. Perfect combo imo

Sorry to resurrect a thread but my wife's 2008 fx35 has a rusted out flange at the muffler. Trusted Local shop says it needs a mid pipe and muffler and was too bad to weld a sleeve. They Said a muffler shop may be able to weld. Anyway I wanted to confirm I have an 2006 g35 coupe ( my car) with stock exhaust and want to possibly swap the coupes exhaust on the fx35 and buy aftermarket for my g35. Based on all my research it sounds like a straight swap is fine but will need a 6" extender for the tips but not for the mid pipe? Please confirm this. Also where can I get the 6" extender or should I just have a shop make one? Mynismo shop didn't seem to have them anymore or at least the links no longer work and couldn't find it on their webpage. I'll call tomorrow though to see. Just want to make sure the extender is all I will need? Thanks everyone!

As you have found.. You can have the muffler shop weld the 6" extension on and you have to extend the tips. Placement lines up perfectly.

Since you have a G, midpipe works so just extend the tips. No need to get a special extender, there are no flanges on the tips like there are on the midpipes. Any exhaust shop will have piping that fits. They just need to measure and cut the appropriate length then cut and weld the tips.
