Want to confirm that a 1st gen g35 muffler section (coupe) should bolt onto a 1st gen FX35 no problemos, aside that i will need the exhaust tips extended by about 6 inches?

Can anyone chime in?

I am on the edge about purchasing a Greddy Spectrum Elite axleback

You also need midpipe extended 6". They sell this piece, or any muffler shop can make it for you.

I am only buying the Muffler section, and want to bolt it on to my OEM midpipe. Will i still need the extension piece?

Thanks,

Pat

Thanks for the clarification. For future purposes...

1st Gen G35 Coupe Muffler => FX: No midpipe extension needed. Exhaust tips will most likely need to be extended
1st Gen G35 Sedan Muffler => FX: Does not fit.
350z Muffler => FX: Midpipe extension needed. Exhaust tips will also most likely need to be extended

Pman was only looking at the muffler section. Doubt he needs to touch his mid-pipe. Wonder how the exhaust tone is....

Edit. 4g phone lag :)

Tips will need to be extended.

Initial Impressions: it is a little louder than stock. Much deeper. Best part is, with windows up the exhaust is practically silent. I'm coming from a flowmaster and loved the sound. However decided to get something on the quieter end.

Does anyone have pictures of their nismo tips extended? Want to get an idea of where is the best place to cut (im guessing behind the tip). Additionally, any recommendations on a good shop in the NYC area?

Patrick, since the tips need to be extended you should maybe get longer length tips? Handy Andy did this recently and his tips really changed the look and the sound of his exhaust. Maybe he'll chime in soon and give more details.

Hey Pat, the new muffler looks good. If you want to keep the polished look back there, you definitely have to look for shop that have polished stainless steel pipes and do good enough job of tig welding using stainless steel filler wire. If not I would suggest that you look into a nice set of longer tips. Keep in mind the tip will affect the tone of the exhaust. Prior to my current a set of longer tip, I had a shop welded aluminized steel extension. I hated the multiple welding joints and the ugly 4" long aluminized steel extension.
