Drilled/Slotted Rotors...Anyone using them?

The consensus is that on a stock application for normal street driving drilled and slotted are not needed and will increase brake pad wear excessively. But they sure do look sporty!

It will be up to you if you're willing to decrease the life of the pads with no noticeable benefit during everyday driving.

i have slotted/drilled rotors they are a little noisier compared to just slotted rotors. However they stand out bc of how they look

I have the R1s also. Not the preimum ones, the Eline series. I feel they have improved my braking power.

Tchuck have them installed recently.. you can pm him and ask him. Btw how are the brakes now tchuck?

I have the Premium slotted versions, and they are great so far. They are absolutely silent at all speeds with one exception; The first 1-3 stops when the brakes are ice cold make a very subtle sound similar to rubbing a wet finger across glass. It's like a short, quiet squeak 4 octaves below a normal brake squeak. Once they warm up they are perfectly quiet. My braking was drastically improved but there are many more factors than the R1 rotors. First, my old rotors were hosed. The shuddered so badly at speed that toward the end my wife was scared to drive the FX at all. Second, in addition to the rotors I installed braided ss lines, Stoptech pads (a brand I hadn't tried before), and flushed the fluid. My point being I can't say how big an impact the rotors themselves had on the braking improvement. Finally, I've only put 100 or so miles on the new setup...

I opted for the slotted versions over blanks for the aesthetics, 100%. As for pad wear; Only time will tell, but pads are cheap so I'm not too worried. :tongue (2):

Has anyone tried blank brembo rotors? the ebay ones

I tried to buy them from R1 via ebay but after my purchase went through, they canceled the transaction and told me those rotors don't really exist. If you can get them to your door, do it.
