i bought an rc car several years ago and has just been sitting in my room developing a nice layer of dust and unfortunately the rc gas was left in it too so it gunked up i think. So long story short i was bored today and thought i would attempt to get it running, however due to the gunk build up (i think) it won't start. I bought this thing because i thought it was cool at the time (not the best purchase of my life) but wondering if anyone knew anything about them or what i may be able to do to try and clean out the system? or is the damage already done and just give up?? Any suggestions would help!

Depending on how long it's been there you might be able to salvage it. Does the motor turn over by hand? If not then you need to take it apart and lubricate it. Also clean out or buy new tubes where the old nitro is gunked up. It might cost a lot more to fix than its worth. I have one (Traxxas Revo) and when it running they're a lot of fun. Unfortunately they're a pita to keep up and tune. What brand is it?

PS: there are quite a few rc sites with real knowledgable guys on there. Check em out

It was an impulse buy at the time. I knew and still know nothing about them. Just know it was expensive at the time. ill get some pictures up. it has been out for a LONG time. and i dont think the motor will turn over right now.

I have a RC10 GT gas one. Loved it and modded it like crazy...still have it sitting in my garage.

I think an awesome fast solid motor would run about $150, but I could be off. Might be fun to get a new one that most likely will be faster, build better, run better, etc just to have some fun again.....they are a lot of fun!!!!

It would be a fun meet to have all of us bring out RC cars with FX body kits lol.

Yea i think a new motor would be the ideal end result. I am not sure if I want to spend the money on it though. I really didnt use it at all when i had it which is probably why there was a tank full of gas that allowed to gunk it all up! I don't know enough about them to be able to either try to flush/clean it out or what to even look for if i get a new motor. So I may just try to sell it on ebay and see what i can get out of it.
