Hey guys,

Hope all is well. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on installing side vents on an 03 fx35? I am looking to spice up the exterior a little. I probably wouldnt spend more than 400 for purchase and install. Also where can I get the side vents?? I really can't find them anywhere. Thanks for the help!

Have you photoshopped it to see what it would look like? Im sure some may be curious as to why you would want to spend money on side vents instead of some other mod.

Yea i am a fan of the vents on the second gen as well, it has more curves and compliments the overall vehicle well. I would be curious to see what they would look like on the first gen which is why i asked if you photoshopped it. Not to stir you away from it but i feel you could probably find more mods that would be more beneficial and noticeable than side vents that don't serve much of a purpose to just pop on.

I am relatively new to mods as well. For instance I got the Angel Eye headlights done, H&R springs, and an exhaust. All of those were installed/bought from individuals on this forum too. I also tinted my front windows, got an invisicord for my radar detector to mount to the mirror power (done by La_Fx) and just recently used the 3M Carbon fiber wrap in my interior.

I don't know what you have done already, but if i was you i would look into lowering your car first! The ride is noticeably better and just looks so much better! Again though, I am pretty new to the mod world as well and am trying my best to learn as i go. Many other members will have more recommendations for you I'm sure!

This question came up before and the majority of people seem to go against it. If I'd spend $400 on exterior go with lowering springs, grille blackout, sport tails I u got reds, tint, to name a few.

I agree. I would think the vents aren't for the first gen. There are many mods that the first gen can get their hands on that the second gens cant, and i think you should take advantage of that! You could do your own painted grill just get supplies and dedicate some time to do it (i did it as well forgot to add that) But i think you should really look into something that Sir21 mentioned! those are usually some of the first mods people look into doing. Let us know what you plan on doing

look at this photo and you can decide :smile (2)::

A 2nd gen vent wouldnt look right. Its gonna look like you couldnt afford a newer FX so you're going to make it look like one IMHO. I wouldnt rule out installing one, I always thought that the escalade vents belong on a fx. As long as its not a stick on vent, whatever you decide would be fine...

I wouldn't put 2nd gen vents on a 1st gen, and I think it would be difficult to do for $400. 2nd gen vents are functional, which means sheet metal needs to be cut to install properly - that's not cheap.

Yea- this all make sense. I think maybe lowering the car is something I am going to look into. I carbon fibered the inside and installed a parrot myself. Ill stay away from the vents for now. I have the windows tinted already as well. How much does is cost to lower the car? Looking for a guestimate.

I am very interested in the angel eyes. How much did that run you? I am unable to do any hardcore mod's like that- just dont have the hardware or skill level. Also could you take a few pics of your fx? I am excited to see how awesome your's look. I to just did the carbon fiber. Thanks again.

Talk to Marus (Marek) on here there is a thread for it and he can price it for you. I feel like we are on the same hardware/skill level, the people on this forum are so knowledgeable and willing to help that it makes the ability to mod much more enjoyable and easy for someone like us. For starter pics you can look at the pics in my garage on here. For any specifics just let me know. I can PM you a link for my photobucket if you want and mess around on there for pics.

As i am sure you are aware many people on this forum are very willing to help and just make the experience so fun. So I am not a particular individual who will be able to help you from a skills standpoint, just what i have learned from here and my own opinions of course! Get some pics of your FX on here!

If u lower the car, you're gonna want to get some wheel spacers to push them out to sit more flush with the fender of the car. I'll actually be posting a set of ichiba 20mm spacers for sale soon if you're interested.

From what I read- the way to go is the H&R Springs. I dont want a stiff ride...
