right before my vacation to key west I noticed some white smoke out of my tailpipe upon starting. Then I remember not to long ago I was playing alittle hard and hit my rev-limiter before shifting. so buddies I think when I take her into the shop I know the saying will be I blew a gasket and have an oil leak :frown: but the good news is I had a blast in key west  lots of fx there beileve it or not:confused:

hitting the rev limited for even 10 sec shouldnt be a big deal. granted its def not encouraged but it would take atleast 30 sec in warm weather to cause a problem. I wouldnt worry too much unless you've noticed a loss in power and/or oil leaking from gaskets?

Tadashi at TS said he ran a VQ for at 7500 rpm for 15 minutes before it broke. I highly doubt the smoke is from running the motor for that short of time.

this is a sign of relief  i would not think hitting the rev limiter would do damage but its all i could think of my when I get my 100k tune up and new ecu it will go away ,lol

thats the job of the rev limiter.

your right I guess im just used to the old cars get so scared when I hear a noise or see something I shouldnt. older cars like I used to have made all kinds of noise rattles, clunks, backfires, then clouds of smoke and if it didnt do all them things as normal it wasnt running at all, hehe
