adding additional RCA ports

Hi guys.

Right now i have a Genuine Apple USB dock connector cable in my armrest, with the RCA ends connected to the RCA ports, and the USB end plugged into a USB charger, plugged into the 12V hole. This way I can play audio and video off my iPod Touch mounted on my dash.

Now I really want to add a media player so I can watch videos without always converting them into iPod format. I already have a media player, but the RCA ports have been occupied. I don't want to run the iPod with just a normal USB cable, because I hate controlling with the FX's interface, I want to be able to control the iPod on the iPod itself.

My question is, are there any ways to ADD another set of RCA inputs, so I can have another device plugged in?

You mean like with an RCA switch in the console or do you want to add a new input to the circuit that would show up on your AV display?

Try a "Y" adaptor, single RCA male to 2 RCA female. You need 2 to cover both left and right audio input. Can be aquired at a Radio Shack. Just make sure you disconnedt the i pod when you are playing the "other device"

I was hoping for an extra switchable input, like on some cars the extra input would take over the CD changer mode, maybe mine can take over the bluetooth audio or HD mode since I don't use those.

That would be tough. You'd have to add an input circuit and reprogram the AV unit control module to recognize it. It would be way easier to install an aftermarket head unit with multiple input ports built in.

The quality shouldn't suffer a noticeable amount. You're probably already in the mediocre quality range using an iPod anyway...

Why would you play audio and video from both sources at the same time? If that situation is realistic for you then I'd suggest a switch instead of an adapter. Something like this:
