Is it possible to plasti dip wheels without actually removing the wheel?
I heard that you can just put newspaper to cover the rotor and brakes behind the wheel!

What are your inputs to this statement and what do you recommend?
Remove wheel or keep wheel on.

Btw, while I wait for answers, I'm plasti dipping my grille. I have the gold trim so I'm leaving the emblem gold lol

By the time it takes you to stuff the newspapers behind the wheels might as well take em off and do it right. It also eliminates the risk of paint running down.

+1 it's not like taking off the wheels take that long.

Oh, well that makes sense.
Anyway, I just finished plasti dipping my grill and it looks pretty good! It's too dark to post a pic, so I'll post one tomorrow.

I just took off the wheel cover (which was quite hard to put back on) and I tried to loosen a lug nut with the stock lug wrench from the trunk of the vehicle, but it WOULDN'T BUDGE. Do I just need more elbow grease? or do I need to jack it up then remove it? *My Dad never taught me anything about cars, I had to teach myself. :tears:*

I have a DuraLast 2 1/4 ton floor jack and a couple DuraLast 2 1/4 ton jack stands.

go to autostore or walmart and get the x lug wrench, better leverage. Also to loosen you need to push down or countercloclk wise. Loosen the bolts then jack it up, and take the bolts off. Hopefully you have jack stands and you chock the opp side wheels.

I recently plasti dip my 20's, best way is to take off the wheels, put cards around the rim, 1 can of plasti dip for each rim, light coat, wait 15-30 mins on each rim. Finish the whole can, so at then, removing will
be easy. Again dont finish the whole can with one coat, do 5-6 coats.

Add: actually its quite easy to put on the wheel covers, flip the wheel cover and find the mark ( for the tire air pressure, valve cap) you wont miss it, that shows you to put parallel to your tire air cap..

Got a metal pipe? Put it over the handle of the stock wrench, and it will transform it into a breaker bar basically

Alright sweet. Thanks for the tips, guys!
I just finished plasti dipping my grille, I believe it came out great in my opinion.

Now, that's done. I've taken what you guys said into consideration and it made it a bit easier. Now that I'm jacking it, I'm looking at all four jack points. UNFORTUNATELY, they're not flat.
BUT right to the left of all jack points there is a flat surface, can I use that flat surface?

I always lift up the whole front end at once. There is a bulge right in the center of the vehicle about 2 feet back from the front. You'll have to remove the plastic protection cover that is under the engine.

Btw grille looks good. You can't really go wrong with plastidip unless you have off runs

you can use that curve point to jack up or what i do, is jack up from the front bottom, where their is a opening around the plastic, this way both font wheels come off the ground, after i lower it onto jack stands with a small wood on top of the jack stand points. You can also use your differential pumpkin (for the rear)..

That's right dracula. You don't have to take off the plastic there is an opening

HOLY SHIT. (pardon my French)

But, I can't get one lug nut to loosen at all! I tried a metal pipe (aluminum broom stick). Couldn't loosen. I jumped on it (couldn't loosen). I'm 19 and 160lbs, so I'm not THAT light. I'm also loosening it in a counter-clock wise motion.. so I'm not doing it wrong.

BTW, this is all while the vehicle is on the ground.

As for the jack point, I found it and that's a pretty cool spot. As for the jack STAND points. I'm going to post a picture. I'm not sure where to place them under.

"1" is a pretty good flat surface.
"2" is a rigid surface where the lip will obviously bend onto the jack stand.

I, obviously, like "1" better but I'm not sure if it's safe?

1st option would be take it to a tire shop, but i usually like to tackle things on my own. I would suggest soaking it with PB Blaster couple hours even a day before, or wd-40. Then try again loosening it. If it still doesnt bulge, get the stock lug wrench an hammer, and start banging on it counterclockwise, just like a impact wrench. If it still wont come out, torch it, until its red hot, then remove, or cut the nut out. Usually you can go without all those by purchasing a dewalt or any other heavy duty electric impact wrench would probably take it off.

For the jack point i always use the 2 point in the pic with a wood block on top of the jack stand or w/o works fine.

whos wants to plastidip their whole car??? lol

That was pretty cool to watch. He got plasty dip on the table, on the cement, and a few other things. Too bad the video ended so quickly, I would've liked to see the finished product.

Aaron, how long would it take you to peel all of this?
