04 fx35 awd
Just bought 04 Fx35 AWD Tech 3 months ago. 84k on it.
first it was map sensor $700. original dealer cover.
3 months later ignition coil/ground wire , spark plug burn up.
$1,700 cover by extended warranty another $530 from my pocket.
car at the dealer at the moment getting it fix.

they call and scare me that catalytic converters might go bad,
quote me $1,500 each for catalytic converters plus labor and extended warranty will not cover.WTF?

so any one know if I can find better price on this catalytic converter?
I know ebay are around 300-400. don't know about the quality.

any one here have replace their converter before and can point me the right direction?
thanks

get some aftermarket cats and have them put on at a local repair shop or if your a handy man, do it yourself, a little difficult but nothing you can't do yourself. in the end, i think you will easily save at least $500-$600. look into megan, berk, crawford cats. GL

Thanks for all the good info. I think I'll just buy the part and have infiniti/nissan shop install it. I'm not gonna have the time to install it myself. stealer try to rape me $1500 each for converter plus $400-700 labor.
I'll give a independent shop call tomorrow and get some price for labor..
only reason I take it there so they can fix my rear door lock actuator and drive side mirror which cover by warranty.

Thanks again for all the great info. and save me some cash.

yeah just my luck. extended warrant cover most of the cost but I still have to pay for other part that is not cover 500ish.. this suck

2 weeks later. car still at dealer and they told me computer is bad and have to
order it from japan. who know how long that gonna take. good thing I got loaner.

service guy said there is a chance catalytic could go bad since ignition coil burn up due to
bad computer. some unburn fuel may damage catalytic converter so now waiting for new computer to be install before it can be determine. just got the car 3 months ago.
2 trip to the dealer. probably will run about $3k of repair bill. this is not what I expect
from infiniti brand. driving g37 loaner for 3weeks and counting and missing my fx a lot.
hope my baby come home soon.

Help.
does 04 G35 and 04 350z catalytic converter interchangable with FX35 AWD?
I contacted crawford Z shop today and they said their after market High flow Cat.
will not fit FX35 AWD. Read all the HCC thread here and seem to say other wise.
can some one confirm if they are interchangable or AWD is the exception.
according to infiniti part website. 350z , G35 same year but still have different part #

They definitely should fit. Only thing is crawford cats have a funny shape due to a heat shield, so maybe that could get it in the way. I wouldn't expect AWD to matter though, because my current cats are real close to heat shield and I'm RWD.
