2008 FX35 sport
I bought a 2008 FX35 about two months ago. It is equipped with 20" Michelins. I am trying to figure out if these came on the car when new? It has 36K miles and they look nearly new.
Also, am I correct in assuming these 20" wheels were an option?
What are the advantages of 20" wheels, other then looks, and are they desireable?

I would get a depth gage and measure the tread on the tires, can't just rely on it looking new. Larger wheels just look better and can handle lateral movement better due to the smaller/stiffer side wall, but will be more jarring on the roads. Most here prefer 20's and 22's on their cars, but if you want a real soft and cushy ride then go for 18's.

20" wheels could mean it is equipped with the sport package. But most agree that 20's do look better on the FX and even better are 22's!

As for the Michelins, I doubt they are the stock tires but I could be wrong as the +08 models could have come standard with that brand (the 03-05 came standard with Good Year) but the tire size should read 265/50/20.

Thanks ---What was included in the sports package?

The 20in wheels and stiffer suspension (shocks/struts) and rear sway bar (standard on the 45) as well as darker chrome grill, headlight housing and rear clear tail lights. There could be a few other stuff I missed but that is most of it I believe.

Well---I bought this FX from a local Ford dealership. I had drove other FXs and this one handled--drove-- differently. It seemed to ride rougher --firmer-- but, for the price and being near mint condition we had to have it.
I have sence noticed that the tail lights are clear and the grill seems to be darker.
This is surprising since it was sold as a BASE model.
If it is a sport, I got a better deal then realized.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I also believe that when the 08 FX has chrome roof rails that's also a sign that it's has sports package.

THANKS to everyone --you have made my day!!
I must have the Sport because--
(1) Clear headlights and taillight lense.
(2) Tinted rear and back windows
(3) Bluestooth
(4) Silver roof rack
(5) 20" wheels

I haven't checked for sway bar but according to my warranty book, Michelins were listed.
Really nice to find out I got a better deal then I thought!

Haha, not always the a positive context with the statement, "found out you got more than what you paid for", but in this case.

You're RWD so no sway bar.

It is possible that someone swapped all these things over though. I think the best way to look is that the interior has a different texture I believe. Kinda a textured aluminum look. I doubt anyone would go so far as to change that, but grille, taillights, and roof rails is more common and likely.

Yes it has the aluminum interior trim and the metal on the pedals.
