2003-2008 Infiniti FX35/FX45 Wheel Spacers

Can somebody tell me why install wheel spacers.
I know the rear wheels are 2 inches wider then the front.

Besides for looks does it do anything for driveability?

Thanks
Pete

Technically wider is better in that it lowers the height to width ratio and reduces the vehicles propensity to roll over at high speeds. In reality though they won't do anything that you'll ever notice outside a racetrack. Except of course look awesome... :p

from what I remembered when testing on gen1 fx's, 20mm is required to clear stock studs.

go longer aftermarket studs and spacer, will be safer.

Will 15mm spacers work without cutting the studs on a 2nd gen fx with stock 21's?

As soonster said, for OEM FX wheels on a 1st generation, you needed a minimum 20mm bolt-on spacer to clear the studs. 25mm will clear any wheel as the studs go out 24mm.

On a 2nd generation, I unfortunately don't know.

I would either get 25mm to be safe or get 15mm with replacing the studs instead of bolt-on.

Do the spacers go on metal to metal, or is there some sort of gasket? I saw some people post that they had rust in their spacers. maybe in snow where they got salt into the gaps? anyone else have seen rust issue?

Thanks

anyone tried 27mm back, 25 mm front on the first gen? would it clear the fenders?

What are your wheel offsets?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the front needs a bigger spacer than the rear for the flush looked. I have 25mm spacers all around on +25 offset wheels and the backs are very flush whereas the front still has a little sunk

I have them 27 back 25 front the look great and no issues and the back sticks out the slightest bit but i think it looks awesome and I have stock 20s black.

In case anyone need this info for a spacer/adapter installation. The front studs will stick out 24mm. See picture.
