A very strange problem with my 2006 FX35

I’m new here and this is my first try in this forum. I’m riding a 2006 Infiniti FX35. Recently, after riding, when I park my car in my garage, I can hear a very strange continues high pitch sound (high frequency sound) from the engine compartment, it’s not loud, but I can clearly hear it if it’s quiet. If I lift up the hood, it becomes louder but still not loud. I cannot locate where the source is but sounds like it’s from the centre of the engine compartment. When I turn off the power, it’s gone. If I half turn the ignition switch, I mean if only the power for accs. is on, the high pitch does not come on, if I keep turning and when the main power is on, the sound shows up.

I tried to turn the headlight on and off and found it's nothing to do with the sound. I have been waiting for like 10 minutes, the sound was continues and did stop until I I turned the key back to Accs on.

Any comments would be highly appreciated.

I can hear mine hum w/ the ignition turned 2 steps. Sound is on the higher pitch. I figured this is normal. Always had it

Updates!
I just park my car in the underground garage which is very quiet. I had my boy in the driver’s seat to turn the car key. I listened very close to the engine compartment. I found out as soon as the car key been turned 2 steps, while the main power is on, I heard a sound from the passenger’s side, from the bottom of the car, sounds like a small engine or motor been started and then compress some oil towards the front and stop at somewhere, then right after that, I heard the high pitch sound, it sounds like static, continuous until I turn the key 1 step back. It doesn’t sound like something wrong with the belt because I didn’t turn on the engine and it’s continuous. While I turn the car key one step back to Accs. On and the high pitch sound went off, I heard, right under the engine, there is a sound come out, it sounds like some mechanical thing was shutting down “click. Click.. click………” then all sounds went off.
More comments will be highly appreciated.

Could be the throttle valve closed position learning procedure you are hearing. I believe it makes a sound like you are describing in post 6.

--------------------------------------------------
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning

Operation Procedures
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch is ?ON?.
3. Turn ignition switch is ?OFF? wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.

or the accelerator release position learning

2. Turn ignition switch ?ON? and wait at least 2 seconds.

4. Turn ignition switch ?ON? and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch ?OFF? wait at least 10 seconds.

Not sure which one, but i remember doing one of these before and it made a similar sound.

You guys mean the coil packs? If by two clicks on the ignition you mean the position just before starting, that's your coil packs. They're constantly firing which is the normal state just before the engine starts and the coil packs only activate when required.

I'm not sure why this is, but its normal> I can only guess its warming up the cylinders or the spark plugs. Or cleaning them.

Oh and don't leave it on that position too long, you'll overheat the coil packs eventually. This also shortens their life. :wink (2):

Maybe these two write-ups are good hints

I found these two write-ups on line, they seem to be good references for my issue. They are saying the problem is from the fuel pump. So what do you guys think? Thanks!

1:
If you wonder whether or not you have a bad fuel pump, here are a few signs that it is time to get a replacement.
One of the early warning signs of a bad fuel pump is the development of a high pitched sound when the engine is first engaged. Different types of fuel pumps will make slightly different sounds. This phenomenon has been described as a sound somewhat like a tea kettle whistling, while others claim the sound was more like nails scraping across an old fashioned chalkboard. Regardless of the exact sound emitted by the fuel pump, it is important to get your vehicle to a mechanic quickly. The fuel pump is not likely to keep functioning much longer.

2:
Fuel Pump Noise. Fuel Pump Noise. [Query:] My car is running perfectly but whenever the fuel-gauge drops to around 25%, noises coming out unexpectedly, but after refuelling the noise will suddenly disappear. Does anyone could tell me what's wrong with my car? [Response 1: Michael Pardee] Sounds like the hose on the in-tank fuel pump has a hole in it. That is very common, and if the hole gets much worse, it will not be able to run below 1/4 tank at all. Fortunately, it's an easy fix. [Response 2: Peter James] I would agree with that and/or the intank pump has failed and you are
now stressing the main pump, which in turn can lead to premature failure of the main pump.
[Response 3:] Are you sure it's the in-tank pump, not the main pump down by the rear wheel arch that is making the noise? Most commonly this pump makes this noise not because it is failing, but because the in tank pump is not supplying the fuel to it for some reason. It won't do it any good to operate in this condition, and when the main pump fails, you're stuck at the roadside. The most common causes of in tank pump woes are not failure of the pump itself, but two other possibilities:
The little sock filter on the in tank pump intake is blocked with debris
The pipe from the in tank pump has split.
Both require the pump removed from the tank to rectify unfortunately.

Any update to this issue?

I'm currently having a big problem where my FX35 would turn over but won't start - or at least it was struggling to start up and died shortly afterward. I was suspecting that it's something with the throttle/fuel pump/fuel injector!??

It happened right away my wife filled it up with BP 93 gas which has been the same gas we usually put in. I'm hoping to get a code reader to see if i can read any code from it...

Any input or suggestion would be highly appreciated - Happy Holidays!!

I'd check the the condition of your battery. Last time my car did this, the battery was on its last leg. The battery didn't have enough juice to start the car. I noticed this was worse in colder weather. You will be pleasantly surprised. Go check your battery =)
