I need some wheel Clearance Help 22x10.5 Front 22x12 Rear. I am hoping someone has the energy to get through this post, as it is extremely long.:err:

Was hoping I could figure it out myself, but suspension clearance was starting to worry me and needed the :iS: members to chime in. I also have a big brake kit to worry about, 6 piston 14.25" rotor front and 4 piston 15.00" rotor rear.

A few members are running on a 2003-2008 FX35/FX45, 22x10 with 35mm offset on 305/35/22 tires. That is like running a 30 mm spacer, compared to stock in terms of offset.

The equivilant for 10.5" and 12" widths are 42mm and 61mm offset, respectively.
http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp

This also helps, but doesn't cover all sizes:
http://www.rimsntires.com/tireplussizing.jsp?sectionwidth=265&aspectratio=50&biddiameter=20

Going further using this http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp
22x10.5 with 305/35/22 tire and 42mm offset
105width42offset.jpg

22x12 with 305/35/22 tire and 61 mm offset
12width61offset.jpg

Option 1: Semi Concave front, Deep Concave rear
22x9 front +15mm offset on 265/40/22 tire (30.34 inch tire diameter, 38mm more than stock offset)
22x10.5 rear +34mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 38mm more than stock offset)

I am 100% sure the front fitment works (had it before).

I am 90% sure the rear fitment works, as 10.5" rear with an offset less (more aggressive) than 40mm offset should work (based on what I read online, see here http://www.rimsntires.com/wheelfit.jsp?sized=22&sizew=10.5&pcd=5x114.3&offset=41).

Inner suspension clearance is where my 10% worrying comes from. I can push it out farther to be safe as Viet ran 42mm more than OEM. What's another few mm=)

Option 2: Semi Concave front, Deep Concave rear (more aggressive)
22x9 front +21mm offset on 265/40/22 tire (30.34 inch tire diameter, 32mm more than stock offset)
22x10.5 rear +40mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 32mm more than stock offset)

I am 100% sure the front fitment works.

I am 80% sure the rear fitment works. This sticks the wheel farther in, so less suspension clearance, but more fender clearance. Website says this works 100%, but I am not convinced... yet. Anyone know how much inner suspension clearance we have for the rears? No strut in the rear, so hopefully it will be fine??? I'd rather have less chance of rubbing the plastic fender and be a little more tucked in vs Option 1.
Option 3: Deep Concave all around
22x10.5 Front AND rear +34mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 38mm more than stock offset)

I am 80% sure the front fitment works (strut is pretty close, which the front has that I need to worry about).

I am 90% sure the rear fitment works (see Option 1).
Option 4: Deep Concave all around (less aggressive)
22x10.5 Front AND rear +40mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 38mm more than stock offset)

I am 50% sure the front fitment works (pushes even closer to strut).

I am 80% sure the rear fitment works (pushes closer in the fender).
Option 5: Deep Concave all around, maximum width in rear
22x10.5 Front +42mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 30mm more than stock offset)
22x12 Rear +61mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 30mm more than stock offset)

I am 40% sure the front fitment works (pushes even closer to strut).

I am 20% sure the rear fitment works (pushes closer in the fender).
Option 6: the Aggressive Rookie, Deep Concave all around, maximum width in rear
22x10.5 Front +30mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 42mm more than stock offset)
22x12 Rear +49mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 42mm more than stock offset)

I am 90% sure the front fitment works (pushes even closer to strut).

I am 90% sure the rear fitment works (pushes closer in the fender).

I am more confident in this setup because it pushes it so far out, inner clearance for any suspension should be fine. But the 10% is again the fender rub.
Option 7: the Aggressive Rookie, semi concave front, deep concave rear, maximum width in rear
22x9 Front +11mm offset on 265/40/22 tire (30.34 inch tire diameter, 42mm more than stock offset)
22x12 Rear +49mm offset on 305/35/22 tire (30.40 inch tire diameter, 42mm more than stock offset)

I am 100% sure the front fitment works (pushes even closer to strut).

I am 90% sure the rear fitment works (pushes closer in the fender).
You get the point, there are countless number of options!

Known working offsets that I used (similar widths and tire size):
Pierce/Panzer
22x10 +35mm offset, 305/35/22 (30mm farther than OEM)-- just need to roll rear fender, no other issues.

Viet (non-wide body, V1)
22x10 +22mm offset, 305/35/22 (42mm farther than OEM, :sluggish:)

Viet (wide body, V2)
Front 22x10 -3mm offset, 295/30/22 (68mm farther than OEM:eek.:, 30.12" diameter tire)
Rear 22x12 -10mm offset, 335/25/22 (101mm farther than OEM:eek.:, 28.59" diameter tire)

Humberto (wide body)
Front 22 x 10.5 +11 Offset offset 305/35/22 tires
Rear 22 x 10.5 -5 Offset

Someone is going to ask, so I'm going for Forgestar F14 in Titanium (maybe silver)
Options:
Deep concave
22"
22x10.5 offsets from +10 to +49
22x12 offsets from +29 to +68

Semi concave (to me these are pretty flat)
22"
22x8.5 offsets from +12 to +51
22x9.0 offsets from +18 to +57
22x10 offsets from +31 to 70

My thinking is either go biggest I can, with the 10.5 front and 12 rear so both are deep concave.

Or I can get the staggered look even more by using a semi concave front and deep concave rear. The additional benefit of this too is I can use a smaller wheel and tire setup in the front, so the smallest is 9" to accommodate the 265/40/22 properly is a 9" wheel. The purpose of this is to reduce steering vibrations, shimmy, etc... as the larger the width of the front tire, the more you feel. FX's are notorious for steering wheel shake at the 60-75 mph range, even with a Hunter Roadforce balance and steering bolt tightening.

265/40/22 and 305/35/22 will be fine on the AWD, so close in tire height and Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico come in both sizes.

Here is a picture of semi concave front and deep concave rear (note the Camaro is 22x9 and 22x10.5, which is one of my options. The concave difference doesn't really show up there, not sure why? Angle of picture?):

Other 22's since Ian won't post his yet=)

22xunknown, probably 10" too, looks semi-concave.

You are crazy my man, good luck with it. I personally like to have all fours match with regards to concavity. Pics up soon.

At least post a tease Ian, I know you have some photos=) Yours looks sweet, but yeah, holy wheel gap! Maybe 285/40/22 might have helped a little.

FWIW, I have 22x10.5" rears with a +25 offset and it works. The tires are smaller than what you're getting at 285/35/22. Mine is lowered with H&R's with the spring mount mod and I've only hit the fender plastic once. That was over a huge dip through roadwork and with 5 people.

I say go deep. cosidering the sheet metal mass on the FX our rides our not what you would consider "delcate flowers" like some of the more extreme low to the ground sports models that run the f14's. IMO the subtle nuance of running a staggered fitment will be lost in a concave format (lipless design). Be nice if you could also see both of the wheels on your car for color but I think either will look slick, I am leaning a bit more towards the silver. Dark(er) wheels disappear, delicate wheels disappear.....spend this much on wheels I say make them show up. Look at Rookies before and after wheels. The second set in silver is SO much better.

Option 1 or 2 for me. If I could redo my setup, I wouldve gone max width (at least 11" rear) with a full/deep concave. The fronts I like, just semi. Of course, I could just reorder two extra wheels and get the right setup I want. Maybe next summer. :wink (2):

Thanks for sharing shadow. Wow +25mm offset, that's 47mm more than stock. That will clear suspension for sure=)

285/35/22 is 11.22inches wide vs 305/35/22 being 12 inches wide. It's also shorter by .55 inches.

Do you have any photos?

I see what you're saying.

I guess I do like the hyper silver better.

Pics up ed... They don't offer titanium or hyper silver anymore... Only silver, gunmetal, piano black, flat black, pink..... With the curvier 1st gen FX, I think a deep concave would look very nice...

Wow, really? That makes my decision easier I guess.

I guess I messed up the "more aggressive" parts in my actual text... but will leave it as is because I don't want to screw up the poll=)

I know it isn't a poll option but my vote is for one width F+R with a deep concave rear and a close to flush front. Like how Humberto's would look with staggered concavity rather than staggered lips. Smart and pretty.
...and Silver for sure. Unless you can get them to make you a hyper silver or Ti set.

Ed, I have casted my vote.
Option 6: the Aggressive Rookie, Deep Concave all around, maximum width in rear
Color choices 1) Titanium 2) Hyper Silver 3) Silver in respective order.

My thinking was, spending that kind of money mind as well make the wheel scream out loud and let them makes some heads turn.

Cool, that is what I was thinking.

I like my current wheels so to change I might as well go big or go home. In this case, go big and wide. [insert Ian joke here:rofl:]
