Trying to figure where the fill bolt is for the transfer case and cant seem to find it. Found the drain plug but cant find it for the fill. Can someone shed some light for me on this matter

on the picture of the service manual you just posted shows the fill plug. Thats facing the back and towards the top. so the drain plug is there too? just making sure i dont drain the wrong thing.

The above attachment specified Nissan Matic D ATF.
Can I use the Nissan Matic J or S ATF instead?

Dang, I just went to the dealer yesterday to get some matic D and the "master tech" told me not to use D, but to use S. I said, "so when you guys perform this service you use S in the T-case and not D", and he said yes. Unbelievable!

I have matic S already, so it would be convenient, but I am scarred to use it without knowing for sure. If I use it and it messes up my T-case, they probably would "forget" that they told me to use S. Then it would be all on me to fix.

I called the dealership again to confirm that what he said was right before ,and he said that the two fluids are interchangeable you can use S or D. But I called two other dealerships to get more opinions and they advised against using S, and said use D which is what the manual says. So that's 2 to 1 and I'm going to use D.

Not to cloud the issue any more, but thought I throw it in. S also replace J for the tranny too. That's the reason for my comment on the S being the ALL PURPOSE fluid where ATF is used :smile (2):

I would just stick with D for the transfer case.

I see that the manual says it holds 2 5/8 pt. Which is a little over 1.3 qts. This is another thing the master tech was wrong about. He said about 3.5 qts. I am going to assume that the manual is correct here as well.
