I read a post on here about you have to remove the exhaust at the muffler to take the hitch off on the oem. but my question is my hitch is a CURT hitch. is this an oem? looks like three bolts total each side. Im thinking i might have to remove the rear bumper because it look like one of the bolts is under where the bumper come up.

also once its off ill post pics ad am selling it too. make me a deal, nothing wrong just think it looks ugly, hehe.

Curt hitch is not oem. When I installed the curt hitch the instructions said it could be done with the bumper on. I ended up taking the bumper off to do the install. No need to take of the muffler either. Hope that helps.

If its oem, mostly you will have to take the muffler off. I can send you the oem hitch installation instruction to help with taking it off if you want. I guess you can take the oem hitch off if you don't care if the muffler got all scraped up. Since I have Invidia exhaust on, I took mine muffler off to avoid it being scraped up at the time I took my oe hitch off.

oem hitch removal is a lot more involved, including the wiring harness under the spare tire section as well as the additional bolt on plate under the rear passenger side. Also have to unhook part of the muffler for removal. The aftermarket hitches are pretty straight forward though.

CURT hitches are not oem as far as I know. Aren't oem hitches made by Hidden Hitch?
