2012 Jeep SRT8

I agree Stu. I saw it at the NY motor show and wasn't nearly as impressed as I initially was with the first one. Overall, I like the new Grand Cherokees a lot more, but don't think they did a good job at all with the new SRT, looks wise that is.

I've said this a few times on the site
already on October, but I was going to get the 2012 srt8. I was set on it for probably 2 years. I knew I wanted it for the speed and also got excited after seeing the 2011 but also was impressed with the new motor going to produce almost 550hp. Anyway we were car shopping, found out the fx50 does 0-60in about 5.1 and srt8 does slightly under 5 and after I test drove it since luxury and technology is huge for me, it was a no brainer. I could have gotten a new fx50s no miles for about $56k with my discounts. 2012 srt8 would have run probably $44k new. This is without taxes. I just decided to go with a 2009 with some miles 100k warranty for low $40k with fx50s loaded 26k miles. So I was also happy to spend less than originally planned. I dont normally give out numbers but it explains why i made my decisions the way i did clearer for you. Think of this also, the srt8 comes with only 36k miles warranty. Chrysler covers crap when it comes to srt8s. When they advertise lifetime powertrain warranties the little writing excludes srt8s. It's bull but yet even with mpg I wanted it but not after test driving a fx50 and the 2011 grand Cherokee limited to compare interiors.

And to be completely honest, i was watching the streamcast of when they were unveiling the 2012 srt8 since I was following it and waiting for it, I couldn't believe how much I hated the exterior. the front bumper looks out of place with the rest of it ands looks cheap with the LEDs they are using and the side and back is exactly like the limited minus the badging!!!! Wtf? They put on horrible rims, 2010 and under were awesome rims and they got rid of the awesome center dual exhaust that really made it stand out thinking older guys will buy it now for towing.

Furthermore, they came wayyyyy under what the hp predictions were going to be. Everybody was saying 525-550 and at the unveiling it came with 465 from what I remember!!! On 12/14 mpg 6,4L. I and others were expecting more from the hemi. Now compare that with the fx50 that only has 390 hp and pulls pretty close 0-60. I was worried I was going to be slightly dissappointed of not having the jeep, but with that exterior and numbers, im not at all.

Your decision obviously but just gave you my life car shopping story last year!

wish i could have the fx and the srt8 lol but no even in my dreams haha... so i have to pick... SRT8 will be about $60k here in puerto rico i paid for my fx35 $60k when i got her brand new :) here is 40% tax on cars :/

Yep! It is true... 40% tax increase for Luxury cars in PR.

Dimelo dimelo!! That avatar pic, was in San Patricio parking lot or Plaza las Americas?

I dont know you, but I cant really pass American cars either. Just my personal opinion.
Could be a SRT-10 ZR-1, whatever, and I'd pass.
I mean, obviously I would get the cars I said before, but you understood my point there.

Don't worry guys, when Fiat takes over the design the SRT-8 will be "awesome" again...
Jeeps have been pos for years. I can't believe anyone would even consider them competition for the fx. I wouldn't even consider them competition for the 1st gen fx...

The FX is classy. Don't get me wrong, bubito, i love the SRT8, especially the previous model for its raw power but it will not turn everybodys head like an FX does...

That Jeep looks Hot.

I really like the facia

+1 I see a lot of them around here, and it sounds like a beast, even when it's not going fast. It's in a different category with the FX, and no... the interior won't be as nice (or anywhere near it), but it hauls ass.

I say go for it! Tho, I know nothing about their reliability... I'd take one :dontknow:

I looked at these and love the original body style more than this new one. I just couldn't justify spending that kind of $$ on a Chrysler after working for their Fire and Accident/Lemon Law Buyback division. They do sound really good, thats for sure!!

If you have to do it do the previous body style and throw on a set of Viper wheels......

^ agree. Looks way more refined. But this thing is a gasaholic. My bros buddy had one. Think in the range of 9mpg city with a semiheavy foot

first gen looks wayyy better but the new one looks good as well, not a fan of non luxury vehicles they just dont do it for me. your better off getting a challenger srt8.. as far as the numbers on the new hemi I am sure they scale that number down for insurance reason and that you will be paying more because you got the srt8 but with a little tunning you can get those numbers better. I say get a 50

when i saw the regular Jeep.. all i though was the SRT8 would be a Badass looking jeep.. and look at it! i was right..
