Guys,

Just want to share something with you I found from my 3-day-old new baby.

First I want to mention that I'm NOT good at car at all:tdown:. This is my second car in my life but is the first NEW car. I lived in condo with old used car so never thought about washing it by hand or detailing it before.

I chose between Q5, SRX and FX35 and ended up selecting this perfect one - FX35. The more time I spend with it, the more I love it. :tup:The appearance is just so unique and nobody beats it. I haven't had a chance to wake the beast inside this car up cuz I'm still in the break-in period. But based on what I experienced during the test drive, I can wait...

Now I moved to a townhome with the extra space for it. I start to looking for the proper way to protect and take care of this baby. So I found :iS:. The best forum for FX owner!!!

I learned a lot from this site and I really appreciate everyone who contributed your experience and thoughts here so that newbies like myself have a chance to educate ourselves from your helpful write-ups.

Malbec black - I want to show off the color my baby!!! I was going for black without knowing of the existence of this color. In the showroom, I saw one coupe has this color and is so elegant. Then I learned this color is available for only late 2011 model - I know this is the color I'm gonna get right away. The weather these days are not consistent. Pictures will be posted later this week to share with you guys.

I was trying to get a Nav-in-motion module before buying the car cuz I thought it would be very inconvenient not to have an ability to operate Nav system while I'm driving. But it turns out there is no problem operating it while I was driving in these three days. I did not intentionally test all the functions on Nav system but as least normal functions work flawlessly when I was driving. Not sure if its because my gf always sits on the passenger seat when I tested it but it really works. Could it be the late-2011 model change? I don't know but I'm really glad!!!

Map update ability - I notice some other thread talking about the difference of how to update maps on the nav. In my particular 2011 model, there is a function that allow you to insert DVD to the system and simply push the update map bottom to run the update.

The next thing I'm gonna do is to setup my Escort 9500 IX with invisiCord. Unfortunately the company is having a vacation now so I'll have to wait at least a week to receive the cord. But once I get it I'll test it with suction cups first to determine if I need to purchase BlendMount.

I got my first hose and nozzle from Walmart with $10/$7. It's workable but I'm going to try Craftman Rubber Hose from Sears this weekend. Any suggestion on choices of nozzle? Believe it or not, I have never really washed a car in my life until yesterday. I bought Meguiar's new car wash kit and gave it a shot after two days of ownership with 3 bird poop attack and driving in a rainy day. So it was quite an experience yesterday:smug:

Although I found out I messed up with the ratio of wash solution with water, I tried to follow the steps to finish the first step - wash and dry the car. There are a little bit water trace on the car after washing it, but it definitely looks much better than before. I guess I have long way to go...:sluggish:

Anyway, finally summer arrives Chicago. I'll see you guys on the beach!!!

enjoy the new car... hehe.. how's the black? im thinking to get black or white now....

If you ask me my answer is definitely black! It's harder to maintain of course but it's really worth it. White is good too with some mods but black is just a killer!!!:wink (2):

Hey ZC, welcome to the Scene. BlendMount and InvisiCord is the way to go. No doubts. Why buy an InvisiCord? You can make one just as easy. I have a spare one that I made if you want it. Meguiar's products is the way to go for up keeps.

Since you're in the neighborhood, we show meet for quick hello one day. There are a couple of members here in our area. Enjoy the forum.

Hey, thanks for the kind words. I have actually ordered it the day before yesterday. Just wrote them to ask about the cancel policy.

As I mentioned, I'm totally an amateur about cars. But I can show up to admire all the cool mods you guys have if there is any future gathering and stay quite if you don't mind.:ninja:

@SJ: I think I will have another car wash experience this weekend. But this time I will buy a 5-gallon bucket first instead of using my recycle bin to fill up the water:embarrassed:

I don't think I will spend a lot of $ on the mods although I have to admit you guys really did great jobs to make your rides look super cool and outstanding. But there are something I'd like to do with my baby:

1. Put my 9500IX on BlendMount (ordered today) with invisicord (they are on vacation until next Monday) or love from la_fx35 (if I can get refund from invisicord and he really meant it :smile (2):). It really looks so slick from the pictures.

2. Tint front windows to 50%. Not sure how much it is from the factory, but I guess 50% should at least make a little bit difference since I hate to be bugged by cops. Any suggestion for decent shops with reasonable price? How much would it costs with good films?

3. As some friends recommended, 3M clear bra. Any recommended nice store to have it professionally installed around Chicago area?

Those are three things I can think of now. Any advices are appreciated.

ZC

I'm serious about my home made invisicord. You can have it. About tinting, it is good that you decided to go with 50% to stay legal. I have 20% on now and somehow I got a Chicago tinted windows violation notice mail to me and at an address that I wasn't even there on that day. I have a in-person contest date next week on the ticket. I'm taking it down and put up 50% too. I do it myself with film I bought from ebay. I know AeroBFA got his tinted at the ztech in naperville. They did a very good job on his.

I got the 2011 in black obsidian. I suggest the first thing you put on is the invisi-shield (don't call it a bra ,dude!:wink (2):) This is a must before you start freeway driving. I had the dealer do it so don't really know a retailer to recommend.
