Lowering springs

What is all this spacers and camber kit stuff? If I purchase coilovers, will I also need to buy anything else? I'm trying to get an idea of what I will need to spend for a legit setup. I would be upgrading to 22's at some point after the mod.

The only thing I ever dropped was my VW Golf 10 years ago. I was setup with H&R sport springs and Bilstein sport shock/struts.

How did you like the springs on your VW? I say if you hot the money go for coilovers but if u want to save some and spend it on other things for the FX go with springs

Driving the Golf was fun I must say. I edited my questions above on the brands. I see there is BC and Megans. Seems like BC is the winner based on the warranty. However, after reading all 24 pages on the BC thread, I am a little scared of all this noise problem and people saying its bouncy?

Have you checked out www.tirerack.com ? That were I got my H&R springs from and their price was basically like every other site after shipping and handling. If you do a search you might find some websites that have the prices real low but once u check the shipping and handling rates they all tend to be around the same price.

thanks ocal21...i had one more question, when people say they cut half a coil on these springs is it just for the front or the rear gets a cut also :) thanks again

I believe people have done it to both front and rear. I believe if you search thru the threads regarding lowering springs or H&R springs some members talking about it. Maybe you can get a better answer there

Or you can just buy a new upper spring mount and replace the lower one (or is that backwards). It's what I did instead of shaving the mount; same net effect though, a little lower.

To the op, when cutting the front, make sure to be careful seating the spring. It's a little trickier because the angle is different and you have to twist it a little bit. Mine actually just unseated itself a little bit and is sitting a bit crooked. I'm taking it back to the shop to have them reinstall. Not a huge deal as it won't fall out or anything, but it's definitely something to watch out for.
