2003-2008 FX45 Engine Tuning UpRev Osiris and UniChip

As stated, S is the replacement for J. J will still be produced since it is used in the rear diff for certain Nissan trucks. At least that is what I was told at a Nissan parts department.

I would like to report back on the Unichip on my 03 FX35. I have been driving with the chip for two days now. I ran with it in "normal" mode for a day and then flip it to "aggressive" mode all day yesterday. The very first noticeable change with the chip in was the tone of my Invidia exhaust. The Invidia use to have a tiny bit of drone (not enough to bother me) before having the Unichip. Now the exhaust is more deeper roar and it sounds nothing like that before (in a good way) having the chip on.

The car drives very smooth in normal and aggressive mode with the chip. Seems that every components is now work in syncs. I do notice a step up in acceleration when switch to the aggressive mode when comparing to the normal mode. I plan to work with Aaron from Unichip to get a custom map install and go for a dyno to get some concrete numbers on paper.

On the topic of shift kits and UpRev. I found some info recently about torque management for the 5AT within UpRev software that allows you to firm up the shifts, and thus could possibly mean valve body upgrades and shift kits aren't necessary. I may have to read back through because it was older and there wasn't any final answer from UpRev about it.

^^ when you had 4 guys in your car yesterday, how was the pickup? :tongue (2):
I was surprise it still have some punch left in it's pick up with the extra weight.

Call Sam at GTM, they were working on the 7-speed AT. It's on the 2009+ G37 and 370Z, so you can bet it will come out by Transgo.

For now, they have this out:

Good info for the 2nd gen.

Yes this is what I like to hear! However the shifting and pull in Andy's 35 was very impressive, even with 4 deep it felt like my 45 driving solo. I had a FAST tuner for my first F-body that was auto. It had 3 shift settings that you could truley feel, but it wasn't smooth at all and I feared for my T56's health so I turned it off. I'm sold on the Shift kit, after hearing "It's good for your Trans" Looks like I'm second in line or maybe I'll try it myself with the great write up and pics here from HA, yes! :eek.: I Made a new :iS: acronym HA!
Man, thought I was getting out of the Sports car mods by driving a lux SUV, turns out I picked the right one to keep my sickness and passion alive! So many mods when I thought the 45 was very limited.

HA? :rofl::laugh:

Seriously, the shift kit is an impressive mod. Anyone been around cars can do it. Just take your time and organize the bolts as you take them out. Joe, seeing you and your patten piece, the shift kit is a walk in the park.

Thanks HA! I'm a little worried, cause I've never done Trans internals, but I'll give it a try. I'm gonna grab the kit + shift juice next month. I'll def be PMing you for some more expert advice when the time comes if you don't mind.

I'm no expert at all, done it and I know I can do it again when call upon!

I found another one for our cars....

Jet Chips

Import ECU Upgrade Kit
Part #: 65003

The JET Performance Import Computer Upgrade Package is the solution to performance tuning import and domestic sport compact vehicles. Import computers do not have computer chips that are easily removed, making it necessary for JET engineers to either reprogram the vehicle’s existing chip or remove and replace the chip by desoldering it from the circuit board. The kit provides you with all the materials required to safely send your vehicle computer to JET’s lab for a high performance software upgrade. Once we receive your ECU it will be programmed according to the information you provide on the vehicle specification sheet to optimize performance and mileage to match your specific modifications. JET's exclusive Dynamic Spectrum Tuning provides optimal performance across the entire power band-not just at full throttle. Programming includes extensive modification to air/fuel ratios, ignition advance and boost pressures for turbo applications.

Hmmm... I want to know want more about this. Do you have a link to your source? Keep us posted.

Eee... So $600 for the Cable and then take the FX to UpRev Tuner for $550 give or take for the tune + programming of the TCM? Correct me if I'm wrong.

No sorry.

Transgo is the way to go, but UpRev can firm up the shift point line pressures. Maybe UniChip can too.

Chris, that how I read it too. $600 for the cable and possibly some software it needs to collect, analyze and modify the TMC table. I have a feeling the software will be have to be included in the price; otherwise they not gonna sell many if $600 is just for the cable.

As Ed have said and I too agree, Transgo Shift kit still the way to go. I should looking to what the Unichip can do to the trans when I have a chance to talk to Aaron at Unichip.

Cool, I hope UniChip has something to offer.
