Hello

Just got a FX35 white, Nav package with 68,000 miles and wanted to do a few things to it so i joined IS to get some advice and to look at some of the other FX. Anyways i live in Westchester, NY and have seen some nice whips here that gave me ideas.
I also have a a few questions. i paid 17,490 for it with a customized system in it, was the price reasonable? i also want to change the roof rack to the chrome one, is it possible, my friend has them bust he has an 07 FX i was wondering if the would fit on an 05. I also want to get the chrome strips on the bottom sides between the 2 wheels on my 05. Where can i get these parts. And finally i wanted to change the dashboard radio controls to the 08 model. is t possible. Thanks everyone and sorry for so many questions thanks. ill add some pics:mask:

Welcome to iS!

Not 100% sure on what can and can't be converted between '03-'05 and '06-'08, but I think the rails and chrome strip can be done, but radio controls might be harder.

Once you have 10 posts, you can post pictures.

Sup, north side? Congrats on your FX bro! Hell of a car!

Don't worry about the price at this point. It's yours, right? Enjoy it. If you start modding it, you haven't finished paying for it yet!

So there are no OEM chrome roof rails. There are "brushed aluminum" but they don't shine like the door handles and chrome wheels. Most FX owners here on IS leave the rails alone, paint the rails black, or remove them completely. I'm sure for the right price you could find somebody to chrome them, or maybe even try spraying them yourself?

All your parts can be found at Infinitipartsusa.com - a sponsor of this site. The original first generation FX (2003, 2004) got an exterior trim update in 2005. One member upgraded to the 05 trim - but he's a garage owner and one hell of a mechanic. Doing anything other than replacing what you have with a new part might need some customization.

Dashboard controls - if you know somebody that does hardcore customs, it can be done. I don't think it is something you would be able to swap out yourself, unless you got some fabrication skillz.

Hate to do nothing but tell you your list is going to be hard. Most people get wheels, the coilover suspension, intake, plenum spacer, exhaust & tune. Some guys have bracing, pulleys, Oil catch cans, forced Induction (turbos, superchargers) and fully built motors. Check out the garage section to see what's out there but don't get stuck in there! Every time I start looking around in the garage I get lost for a couple hours.

Welcome to the site!

Where in Westchester bro? I live in Irvington..

Like other said, your list is so-so....

the rails are the same, but its a hassle to switch them up to be honest

The chrome strips on the bottom of the doors location is different for the 05 compared to the 06, its a hassle to switch those out too

also the interior swap is a waste of money just for looks

from what it sounds like you're trying to make it appear to be the 06-08 model by switching up some stuff...and those listed arent worth it

for the exterior you can make the 06-08 grille fit the 05 (look closely, they are different) and the lower grille chrome can be cut to fit (not worth it) other wise everything else is a bit of a pain......

shoot me a PM its good to have somebody in my area on iS....... I had an 05 35 myself but just upgraded to the FX50:tup: welcome

Welcome to :iS:. I agree on the pricing, don't worry about it because it doesn't matter and it's already done.. Time to enjoy the ride. If you're into modding and personalizing it, you came to the right place.. Lot's of passionate infiniti fx folks here..

Hey

im basiclly a newbie a customizing cars and car part, this i was wondering wat is the benefit of switching out the air intake, coilover suspension and if i was to get forced induction how much would that be?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Intake is inexpensive, look around. Definitely do the suspension upgrade route, easiest way to give the FX the aggressive look it deserves. Coilovers are an excellent mod, if you are considering changing your wheels wait until you can afford your wheel of choice and get them withe the correct offset so you won't need spacers. If you won't be getting wheels, get spacers. Flush with the correct drop looks amazing. That plus some GT Spec bracing will change the look and ride of your FX considerably.

FI is not cheap but will get you gobs of power, check Jumbos FI build thread for inspiration......

Welcome to the site. From looking at your avatar, looks like you got one hell of a custom system. What you paid also seems like a pretty good deal so I wouldn't worry about that. Congrats on the purchase, and enjoy!

As for the exterior updates, AeroBFA upgraded his entire 04 exterior to the 06+(which includes the chrome strip between the wheels). I would suggest sending him, or Turbocad6 a pm to see what the upgrade entails. Good luck!

You have a lot to learn..... do some searching and reading around the forums...

I live in Irvington, like 7 min from yonkers I'm on central ave all the time and go to the summer Yonkers Nathan's meets every thursday...

And you obviously are very very new.....

you need to look at what your plans are for the car...

Forced induction done proper would be around $10k+
Coil over suspension is to lower the car but be able to adjust the ride quality at the same time ($1300ish installed)....intake ($200ish) would help more air get into the motor and letting it run healthy (these are the simplest definitions I could come up with) among many many other possibilities.

If you really are this new to cars/modding, you need to do some searching bro. We're here to help.

Maybe we can meet up at a meet or the nathans stuff I'll introduce myself and we can talk FX... it will be good to have a local connect so you can learn what you need to know about the FX. A few members are in the area too, and I'm in the "car scene" in Lower Westchester....so yeah..

The chrome strips under the doors is very doable. The only inhibiting factor is price. Here is turbo's post from 2008 (prices have gone up since then):

Paying just under $18K with a custom sound system seems to be a pretty reasonable price. Looking at your avatar, that looks like a crazy looking and sounding system! :eek.:

The chrome molding on the lower parts of the doors and rockers are an easy swap. I did the swap myself on my FX. It's just costly for the parts. To upgrade the dash is not an easy task and not worth the effort, so no, it will most likely not work for you. Enjoy modding your FX and welcome!

Glad to see our members give you a warm welcome and give you the answers you need.

I suggest you use our friendly quick search function and type in key word to get the results you need.

In most cases all of the mods you desire have been done.

Welcome to the Scene.

Thanks everyone, ya been really helpfull
